This article is wrong. And it's not unusual.
Rumbelows was not founded by Fred Dawes.
The company was a conglomeration of several others.
Fred Dawes (founded by Fred Dawes) and Vernon Cooper (founded by Vernon Cooper) joined together first.
Sydney Rumbelows (the founder of Rumbelows) was bought by Thorn.
Fred Dawes (founded by Fred Dawes) and Vernon Cooper (founded by Vernon Cooper) was also bought by Thorn.
Thorn called the formed 'group' Rumbelows.
It follows that either Sydney Rumbelow founded Rumbelows or Thorn founded Rumbelows.

Rumbelows is mentioned in the 1990s BBC comedy Bottom where Richie bypasses Rumbelows for 3 months and takes the £86 in back rent to Dr. O'Gradies Personal Organ Enchancement clinic. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.143.221.194 (talk) 19:01, 8 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
