How would this work in practice? edit
So *when* would the rule egotist decide on a set of rules to live by? In each situation? Then I would find it better described as regular egotism plus an effort to make it appear rule-based. Only rarely? That seems very implausible. Like deciding at 18 years to live by the rule that people under 25 should always have priority and then living by that rule even when you turn 25. (I mean, rules *kind of* like that exist in society, but it makes no sense to be the only one living by such a rule.)
Also, what kind of rules are allowed? Apparently "I always have priority" is not, because if yes, rule egoism would reduce to regular egoism as there would not be a reason to come up with other rules.
