Talk:Rugby league in the West Indies

How can Rugby League be described as "a popular team sport played in the West Indies" when the article mentions the sport was only introduced in 2003 and "West Indies rugby league team" article states that the first game was played in 2005. I might add that the sport only seems to be played in Jamaica which makes the description West Indies seem a little extravagant (BTW I am not an anti-League Wikipedian- am an NRL supporter and played RL as a junior) Soundabuser 13:01, 9 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

The meaning is that RL is "popular", and that it is played in the west indies, without linking the two concepts. I have never been happy about the phrasing myself, which is used to start a lot of the "RL in X" articles. Grinner 08:32, 10 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
Ok granted but then is the claim that it is a popular sport perhaps hyperbole? From reading the article there are 5 clubs with 2 teams in each. I'm concerned that if there is seen to be a pattern of rugby league articles that are perhaps exaggerating then it will only be seen as a sport that is pretending to be international? I'd be happy to change the text, as it seems many people have had problems with it. Perhaps we should look at other sports to see how they introduce their topics for certain nations? POds 08:56, 10 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
Sounds good to me, i didn't mean to sound critical, just worried about accuracy and such Soundabuser 10:34, 10 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
Dont say sorry, we're all here to improve wikipedia. Even if that means being critical ;) POds 12:43, 10 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:WestIndiesRL copy.jpg edit

Image:WestIndiesRL copy.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
