Georgia Flag edit

Ok, we seem to have an edit war going on as to which version(s) of the Georgian flag to use. I'm inclined to use the "1990" flag for the years in which is was the official Georgian flag. This page uses versions of the German, Italian, and Romanian flags which were current to the specific year. Alanmjohnson (talk) 06:47, 1 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Please do not update the Georgia flag. In the 2000-Present table, there are two flags shown for Georgia according to the official flag at that time. Look elsewhere on this page. Look also on pages for the Fifa World Cup and for the Olympics. You will see that the flag displayed is the one that was official at the time of the event, not the current flag. For the 1900 Olympics (click here) nearly half of the participating countries competed under flags no longer in use. The Wikipedia page indicates the flag of that period. Countries include Canada, Germany, Italy, Australia, USA, Peru, Austria, and others.Alanmjohnson (talk) 22:05, 15 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
Shouldn't Germany's flag be reverted to the Nazi flag for the first three tournaments under those criteria? Not sure that's necessarily a good thing, but would be the accurate thing to do.81.155.144.192 (talk) 23:58, 21 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
Agreed. It is used on the pages for the 1936 Olympics and the 1938 FIFA World Cup. No reason it shouldn't be used here as well.Alanmjohnson (talk) 23:06, 28 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

2009 or 2008/2010 edit

www.rugby.ge please look this page and look this (ფირა აერ-ის დასტური )and klick little rugby ball, Georgia is the winner of 2009 fira-aer first division, its new information. thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sbezhashvili (talkcontribs) 17:06, 14 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Georgia is indeed leading after this season, but they are not yet champions of anything. And while Georgia is free to announce any "championship" they like, their claiming it doesn't make it so. According to the FIRA website, which I think takes precedence over the Georgian one, the championship is contested over 2 seasons and 10 matches for each team. [1] I believe that if there is a discrepancy between the FIRA site and the Georgia site, the FIRA site should be considered the more authoritative source for Wikipedia. The 2008-2009 season only decides anything in Division 2B, 3A, 3B, and 3C...and that doesn't decide a championship either, just which teams advance from those divisions in RWC qualifying. ENC D1 - The title for Georgia

Victorious against Russia during the match played in Mariupol (Ukraine), Georgia take the first place of the Rugby World Cup 2011 qualifier and win the European Nations Cup 2009. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.114.225.217 (talk) 09:29, 16 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

It is the truth, Fira-Aer change format.

Well, I can't argue with that. So does having a championship every year apply to all divisions or only D1? Since that link basically tells us that qualifying has not been decided, I guess we can assume that promotion and relegation happen only in even numbered years and include results from both seasons. Thanks for providing good verification. Oh, and you need to sign your comments in this discussion. Just sign it by typing ~ four times at the end. Nothing elese. i have contact at federation and knows any interesting news. its very surprising news, i'm happy and thank you to change the table. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sbezhashvili (talkcontribs) 19:12, 16 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

I'd be very happy if Georgia and Russia do so well at the World Cup that it is necessary to go back to one-year championships and have promotion and relegation with the 6 Nations. Alanmjohnson (talk) 23:27, 16 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
It appears that your link is now dead and there is nothing on the FIRA page anymore to support your edits. I don't know why FIRA seemed to change, but I don't find it appropriate to indicate that Georgia won the 2009 Championship.Alanmjohnson (talk) 22:07, 15 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Other trophies edit

I do not believe that any of these bar the Antim Cup are genuine (and I edited that in because it said "Golden Fleece trophy" before). I will delete them unless anyone knows these cups to be real and not just someone with a vivid imagination and time on their hands perpetrating a bit of "let's pretend".GordyB (talk) 08:17, 25 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Rugby Europe edit

The Rugby Europe article needs a lot of work. It would be appreciated if people could direct their attention to it and help update and correct the information, specifically on information related to their country.
