Assets Table

edit

Sorry if I introduced more errors but the table was full of junk entries. Aircraft scrapped or lost in accidents were listed as leased out and included in totals. The Caribous have log since been retired, another example was having the Bell 47G on order - a 1940/1950s helicopter! Some entries like Hawk appeared under fighter and trainer and were counted in the totals twice. Reference used for edits was [1].MilborneOne 11:27, 25 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have spun off the aircraft list to List of aircraft of the Royal Malaysian Air Force, it includes current and former aircraft. MilborneOne 19:33, 25 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
I have reinserted back the list since that article has become a list of aircraft for all 3 branches of the Malaysian Armed Forces.Mjabb (talk) 13:42, 11 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

The RMAF will be getting the EC725. Not the AS532 as stated. Look up in http://www.eurocopter.com.my/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=123:news&catid=14:media-publications&Itemid=58 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.98.70.12 (talk) 12:54, 20 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

A400 4? or 2?

edit

In the paragraph, is was four unit. In the table is 2? Which one is correct. ChowHui 01:09, 25 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Four aircraft have been ordered [2], I have corrected the table. MilborneOne 11:10, 25 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Now is OK. ChowHui 02:46, 26 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Air Marshal or Marshal of the Air Force

edit

The article states that "Air Marshall - This rank is only used by Malaysian King as a special rank." However in English "Air Marshal" is a 3-star rank. Wouldn't "Marshal of the Air Force" (a 5-star rank) be a better translation? Greenshed 23:08, 29 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Changeover from air officer to general officer ranks

edit

The article currently states that the changeover from air officer to general officer ranks took place in 1970. However, Sulaiman Sujak appears to have held the rank of air vice-marshal up until the end of 1976. Does anyone have any further information on this? The motto could do with an English translation, otherwise it might as well not be included (this is the English Wikipedia).

I've started to change "the order of ranks from 1990 onward" to agree with the text and tables; I'm not bothered if its ascending or 'descending' order as long as they are all the same. At the moment its all over the place. ("Consistency" and all that).

In the 'Missing jet engines scandal' section the following quote is obviously missing a word: "it was reported a brigadier-general". It could be "to" or "by" (if so, who to?), but I am reluctant to add either word as it would change the meaning.

Jet engine scandal

edit

Shouldn't we just remove the story. It is an old issue and no longer relevant. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mjabb (talkcontribs) 15:53, 7 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

@Hi MilborneOne, as the page is protected by you, can you remove the Jawi script just like on this edit because the style is against the WP:MOS MALAYSIA. Thank you! Wakanebe Wizard (talk) 13:30, 6 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

list of aircraft

edit

I just noticed that list of aircraft on this article and Equipment of the Royal Malaysian Air Force and List of aircraft of the Malaysian Armed Forces are the same/redundant. So, I propose to remove the list on this article and just put link to either Equipment of the Royal Malaysian Air Force or List of aircraft of the Malaysian Armed Forces.
