neutrality check

ive checked out this page. i cross referenced it with several sources. ive also cross referenced it with some historical documents. and it is a good page, not the best but it portrays a great point of view. i think it needs a bit of touching up. but it is basicly acurate and reliable

After I worte the page and reached deeply into battles which I am knowledgable about, I was afraid that certain people (Palestinians & Israeli mainly) will not like it. So I let it be discussed and I ask you to say what's on your mind and be civil about it.

I will continue editing and only if I feel there is no objection to my matter of writing. I however believe that I am being historically accurate. So please trust that I have good intentions.

Also, I will link each battle to its relevant page which means that it will be connected to the more publicly viewed and editted pages.

I trust that your intention is to be objective. However your appraisal of the performance of the Jordanian army in relation to the IDF does not entirely seem to match historical facts, though most experts will probably agree that the Jordanian army and airforce have in the past shown professional qualities unmatched in any of the other arab armed forces. Still I suppose that sober comparisons of size, quality, technology etc. will indicate relatively high vulnerability for the Jordanian armed forces, both when compared to the IDF and to neighbouring Arab armed forces.

Also I should point out that I in no way endorse your qualifications/opinions regarding sequences of events or the actions taken by any one of the parties involved in the Arab-Israeli conflict. My view on these matters is not part of this reaction, which is solely concerned with 'military matters'.

In any case I hope that peace, tolerance, democracy and understanding on the part of all religions and countries in the ME will prevail, rather than dangerous military rethoric.

Wow ... while some of the information may be factual i believe the bias commentary can be without. I am jordanian and have had my family serve in many branches of the military. But please. "Since Israel was becoming increasingly the most potential source of threat to the Arab states , Egypt declared a state of emergency and started to concentrate its forces in Sinai desert. Consequently, Israel ordered the full mobilization of its forces on May 25,1967. As a result of such dramatic situation the Arab Jordan Army was placed under a maximum alert. In addition to that Jordan signed a mutual defense agreement with Egypt."

a lot of bias in this article, and no mentions of jordon's defeats or black september. For example it consistantly lists the strengths of Israel and Jorden, ignoring the fact the the Egyptains, Syrians, Palestinians etc were also fighting Israel at the same time! 145.253.108.22 11:50, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

-- that section right there. The "As a result of such dramatic situation ..." you make it sound like it was because of Israel the mutual defence agreement was signed. Even in King Hussein's own book and through historical records its pretty clear jordan went to war not because of a threat of israel winning, but a threat that egypt and syria would win sidelining jordan big time.

At any rate i think it would be better not to context why the wars started etc. Focus on battles, etc. Most of the israeli incursions were also due to Israels concept of if Palestinian guerrillas attack to hit back at the arab militaries instead.

Very POV

This page is a joke. Major events in the Jordanian Army's history like being defeated are glossed over and hardly touched. Hardly any mention of the Black September fighting. How can 'surrounded' Isralei forces withdraw? How can Israeli forces outnumber the armies of Jordan, Eqypt, Syria and their allies? It is a very, very poor attempt at unbiased history (which I doubt it is meant to be) and should be deleted or heavily editted. 145.253.108.22 12:35, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

Swedish made small arms in Jordanian service in 1967.

In the list of small arms in use by the Jordanians during the June 1967 war are included mention of the Swedish designed Ljungman AG-42 semi-automatic rifle and the Swedish FFV licensed manufactured version of the H&K G-3, designated as the AK-4 in Sweden. I have never heard of these weapons in service in Jordan. Where does this information come from? Sweden was never a major exporter of her own service rifles, generally making only enough G-3s for her own use, and not enough AG-42s were ever made to be a major export item. However, it must be pointed out that Madsen in Denmark made a licensed near copy of the AG-42, but I am not aware of which countries, if any, took delivery of these weapons. Can you provide the source of this information?

Also, some of the ORBATs need some cleaning up, for example: 2 Armored Brigades (40\60,Each 94 with Patton M-48\M-48A-1 MBTs,40 FV-701 Feeret ARVs,45 M-113 APCs,18 M-52 105mm SPHs,18 M-42 2x40mm SP-AAGs) is a bit confusing and ungrammatical. I might have written it as follows: "Two armored brigades (40th and 60th Armd. UH-60 delivery to Army or Air Force?

Does the Royal Jordanian Army operate aircraft? An article in The Jordan Times (http://www.jordantimes.com/news/local/jordan-receives-eight-blackhawks-us) discusses delivery of 8 UH-60A helos to Jordan but says that the aircraft are being allocated to the "Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army". I was under the impression that the RJAF bore operational responsibility for all Jordanian military aircraft. Pardon my ignorance about the organizational structure of the Jordanian military.
