These articles are listed together, but I always thought it was a strange decision: they're two neighbouring buildings, built at very different times and by different architects, except that the then owner of the pub built the second building. Apart from mashing the text of two building histories together, it also makes cross-linking a bit confusing: e.g. Ruddle's Building is a Robin Dods-designed building but the Royal George is not. It's hard to find other listings to compare to: Ruddle's Building is listed on the RNE but the hotel is not, and the City of Brisbane Heritage Register matches the QHR, but I think that was intentional.

Any thoughts on splitting the two for clarity's sake? This would be especially helpful if they were ever worked on beyond the straight text from the QHR. (Also, if the hotel had gotten an article independently of/before the QHR rollout, it'd be at Royal George Hotel, Fortitude Valley and we wouldn't be having this conversation]].) I *think* (not spending much time in the Valley) that currently the hotel is operating out of both buildings. The article talks about Ruddle's having bars but doesn't make clear if they are bars of the Royal George, but I think they are. There are a number of other hotels in inner Brisbane that sprawl across more than one building, so it's not unusual in that regard. Based on the Google Street View, the two buildings are certainly painted consistently and have matching awnings etc. It probably needs a visit to eyeball it to see what the exact state of play is. If I am right, then I don't think it make sense to separate them (no problem to create redirects for the two individual names of course). If they are separate now or become separate later, then it may make sense to tease them apart, but let's see what the current state of play is. Kerry (talk) 02:33, 12 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
