True this isn't technically a geo stub, but I think listing it with the other geo stubs makes it more likely that someone with the knowledge to expand the stub will come across it. Bending the rules slightly though of course. . .comments? Coyote-37 6 July 2005 08:46 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Rgs-ibg logo.gif edit

Image:Rgs-ibg logo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Current President edit

Is the president of Royal Geographical Society really Michael Palin, formerly of Monty Python? Perhaps the template at the bottom refers to a different one? Waygugin (talk) 22:56, 19 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Wow, okay I stand corrected. He really is the president.Wow! Waygugin (talk) 23:18, 20 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Scott of the Antarctic edit

Robert F. Scott may be often called "Scott of the Antartic". But is that so common and significant that it justifies to list him here with that nickname instead of his real name like all the other explorers? --Hansbaer (talk) 15:23, 10 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Since there was no reaction, I have changed it. --Hansbaer (talk) 14:03, 20 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

List of past presidents edit

Why is there so much overlap with regard to terms served? Rita Gardner's article, for example, states she was DIRECTOR of the RGS from 1996-2018; is this not a different thing from being "President"? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.144.65.128 (talk) 02:35, 26 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Yes, they are different, and the section currently conflates them. If you can locate some sources to tidy this part of the article up with that would be great. Wham2001 (talk) 11:24, 26 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
Sure, I'll take a look and see if there's anything official out there, and update the list if so. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.144.75.170 (talk) 16:36, 26 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Press release edit

A lot of the article reads like a press release. I think it could be improved further. Matuko (talk) 14:26, 16 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
