Possibly there is some confusion with another same sex penguin pair - Harry and Pepper, at another zoo? http://www. examiner. com/bisexuality-in-national/gay-penguin-couple-split-when-the-bi-guy-finds-traditional-mate (spaces inserted because the URL triggers the spam filter) --90.129.3.64 (talk) 22:25, 11 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Roy and Silo brakeup -September 28, 2005 edit

After six years with Roy, Silo has fallen for a female penguin named Scrappy. Information found at http://www.planetout.com/news/feature.html?sernum=1232 and http://www.gay.com/news/roundups/package.html?sernum=1232&navpath=/channels/news/opinion—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.86.111.161 (talkcontribs) 19:53, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

Those are links to the same story published on two different sites. If anyone decides to cite them, I suggest not citing them both since that would be redundant.--Teddywithfangs 06:44, 17 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

LGBT or Parenting edit

I don't know how much of this is realted to LGBT issues versus parenting and non-traditional families. It seems to me to be more of a parenting issue among the penguins, but this does stem from their biological drive to procreate. If this could be expanded covering Roy and Silos behavior over the six years they were a couple that would help a great deal. Comparing and contrasting this to the children's book could be good.

I do think this article would be a good part of parenting in the amimal world along with an article on same sex coupling of animals. But it can get complicated when humans try to parallel their own behaviors with that of animals. Even more complex when we try to parallel human thoughts and feelings, as there is not 100% understanding between humans and animals. --EarthPerson 16:35, 21 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Tango the lesbian penguin edit

I agree with the last editor that the fact Roy and Silo broke up is significant, but I wonder if anyone thinks a brief mention of the fact that Tango has been in a committed same-sex relationship is noteworthy. (Link) Perhaps moreso if anyone knows of a more recent source article? --BBrucker2 00:34, 13 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Like the mention currently in the article? Because that one seems fine to me. --Alynna 03:40, 13 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
Oops, how did I miss that? It must be hard to pick out specific details from such a long and detailed article. ; ) --BBrucker2 20:12, 14 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Tangopenguin.jpg edit

Image:Tangopenguin.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Homosexual? edit

If Silo fell for a female Penguin, doesn't that make him bisexual? 98.14.15.12 (talk) 00:32, 4 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Did Roy and Silo ever engage in sexual activity or did they just live together? Were they Bert & Ernie- just two guys who really dig each other? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.47.104.33 (talk) 13:46, 17 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

It's questions like these that highlight so well the silliness of society--in both the GLBT community and "traditional values" coalitions--latching on to penguin sexuality as making any real statement that relates to the human condition. I mean, I hope the two questioners were largely joking, but let's take it seriously for a moment to see where it leads.

So Silo maintained his status as half of a mating pair with Roy for several years, but eventually abandoned this relationship to engage in a more "traditional" mating pair (you know, in the pattern God designed all animals to follow?) and it's very important that we should decide what that means. Perhaps Silo was bisexual, and after all those years just craved some variety. You can't tie down a happening penguin like Silo with your old-fashioned morals; an enlightened, modern penguin knows that it's none of anybody's business what consenting adult penguins do in the privacy of their nest. If Silo wants three hot penguin girls to dress up in leather, tie him to an iceberg, and slap his ass with live kippers, who are you to judge? Then again, maybe those traditional values folks got to him after all, and with a guilty conscience, Silo made the decision to turn his deviant lifestyle, becoming a bona fide reformed gay penguin, thank goodness. Roy better find himself a proper girl penguin to settle down with, because he's in danger of the all-consuming fire of Penguin Hell. --BBrucker2 (talk) 04:14, 25 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

"Pawnee Zoo" edit

I erased the mention of the Parks and Recreation episode. Coincidentally, this is the only episode of that show I've ever seen, and while I found it very entertaining, the writers apparently were inspired by a different set of gay penguins. Sure, it's related, but not in any direct fashion. --BBrucker2 (talk) 03:33, 25 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Tango at another zoo? edit

Is there some evidence for that? The footnoted article and chat there don't discuss Tango being at another zoo. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2604:2000:1304:C46C:B414:2E4B:A2C6:CD6D (talk) 00:20, 26 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
