Kat's Feedback

edit

It's really admirable for you to take on making an entirely new wikipedia page for Rosario. I'm glad that your concerns about her notability seem to be somewhat unfounded as it looks like you've already found a decent amount of information delineating her accomplishments. My main suggestion would be to see if there's a way you could go into specifics about the "place names, songs, and cultural knowledge" that she was able to salvage (references permitting, of course). I find that that may be a good way to highlight some achievements & knowledge that may not normally be highlighted while still maintaining wikipedia's codes of neutrality. ALSO doubled check your "born" and "died" dates in the sidebox as I think you may have a typo. Another point of interest is your "Work with J.P Harrington" section, I'd be careful not to highlight his contributions over Rosario's (esp. since he already has his own page) and if you could find specifics about the processes used to reconstruct the language that would greatly increase the quality of your article! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kmpresto (talkcontribs) 00:46, 14 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

my goals for this article

edit

main goal: to create a Wikipedia page for Rosario Cooper (and submit it and have it hopefully get permission to publish)

  • synthesize information about Rosario from other sources
  • add photographs of Rosario to article (emailed Ian about that)
  • link to other related pages (chumash people, chumash language)
  • add to related WikiProjects

article goals:

  • figure out how to add in photos
  • see if I can find JP Harrington's feildnotes working with Rosario to include in article?
  • create a strong lead section
  • include sub-sections (early life/life, work with anthropologist JP Harrington, legacy)
  • fill out the infobox template with info and picture

outside the article:

  • link my article to other related articles
  • add my article to related WikiProjects
  • find another article where I can include information about Rosario (like the Chumash people "notable people" section)

Edits as of 11/18/18 (edits/exercise 12 as of 11/29)

I moved article to mainspace, but still need to:

  • clean up the songs/wax cylinders information in the Work section (done)
  • research whether the Northern Chumash language is considered extinct/endangered and whether the Tribe has anyone who speaks it now? (done)
  • waiting for email back about use/public domain of Rosario Cooper's photo to use in article
  • add to legacy section (done)
  • double check my references list (done)
  • add to related Wikipedia articles and WikiProjects (done)

need to do some final touch ups

  • thinking of using native word "tilhini" instead of calling it the Northern Chumash language
  • my photo of Cooper got deleted to need to re-upload that
