Contested deletion edit

I contest the nomination for speedy deletion. Rosa T. Sheng is a notable architect who has made significant contributions to the field, both in her architectural practice and in her leadership on promoting equity and inclusion. I believe most (if not all) of the article is encyclopedic in tone and well sourced. --Josh Wallaert (talk) 07:58, 16 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

She's absolutely notable, but the article needs a complete rewrite. Since the move to draft, more information has been added, but nothing significant has been done to address the promotional, resume-like tone. The Mighty Glen (talk) 08:12, 16 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
I've removed the section on "Driving Cultural Transformation," which was structured like a resume, and replaced with a summary of this important work. Does that go some distance toward addressing your concerns? Per the criteria for speedy deletion, "If a subject is notable and the content could plausibly be replaced with text written from a neutral point of view, this is preferable to deletion." Chopping that section does go a long way, and I've removed the speedy tag. But please look again at the wording: phrases like "nationally recognized portfolio", "prominent advocate", "has particular expertise", "a number of highly regarded projects", "played a major role in raising awareness", "build a platform of strong community support for change in the profession", etc. This is the language of LinkedIn, not of an encyclopedia. I agree with you, to a degree, but I think these sorts of issues should be negotiated by edits in an article, not speedy deletions. Thank you for removing the tag and for specifying some of the phrases that concern you. I'll work to address them.Josh Wallaert (talk) 08:33, 16 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
I've removed the wording that concerns you, except "prominent advocate." That's just a fact, and an important one. I think that should be sufficient to removing the maintenance tag, but of course you're free to revert. Josh Wallaert (talk) 08:48, 16 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
I've made a few more edits for tone - it's looking a lot better now. The Mighty Glen (talk) 09:14, 16 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
