I am Straitarrow, a researcher and writer specializing in issues and concerns involving Aboriginal and Indigenous people. I am a partner in a consultancy that has a 100% Aboriginal focus. I have done some work for ArrowMight Canada of which Rongo Wetere is managing director. Through my own initiative, completely independent from the ArrowMight organization, I began editing the Rongo Wetere biography. My motivation for this was simple and consistent with the goal of Wikipedia: to provide accurate and complete information on a subject. Information contained within the R.W. article was, in some instances, inaccurate and the article obviously needed expansion. I do not expect to receive any benefit, financial or otherwise, for my work on this article.

I'm a new user. I 'signed up' on August 27. After my fourth edit, on August 30, a reviewer tagged the article with a COI template. No specifics were given; the only information I had was within the COI tag itself. On August 31 I removed some information I wasn't yet able to reference with a publicly available source thinking this was the 'cleanup' required. I then wrote the reviewer through his talk page asking to discuss. I received no reply. The COI tag remained on the article. On September 2 and again on September 7, I again tried to get some communication going with this reviewer with no success.

Over the past two weeks I have read and reread much of the contents of Wiki Help. It's been a tough go but I now feel more confident about the Wiki protocols and policies. I now understand that even with a completely NPOV, no bias and impeccable sources, I can still be in COI. So I'm in COI now with ArrowMight and in the future may find myself in a similar situation with other Aboriginal organizations. If so, I will declare at the outset.

In regards to the Rongo Wetere bio, I'd like to continue working to expand the article. I believe I can provide well-referenced, balanced input with a NPOV. I can use this talk page to let others know my ideas or plans and hopefully, get good feedback.

I believe the article as it now appears is free of bias or any other negative influence; so could someone please remove the COI tag?

I've removed the COI tag I added earlier. Stuartyeates (talk) 20:58, 14 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Moar Please edit

I'd like some of these bios I've been finding to be fleshed out more, thanks. There is a lot of references that can be found out there and people aren't trying hard enough to find them. Last edit seemed to be 2012 and since then Rongo has been doing other things or at least there have been other things to talk about in his page then the sparse things put here so far.SumOfAllN00bs (talk) 00:55, 12 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

I'm all for expanding biographies, but doing that by cut and pasting from copyright sources is illegal and undermines everything we're trying to achieve here. Stuartyeates (talk) 22:50, 12 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
