Sabotage of the Chinese Army

The section makes a reasonable point, that Ronglu, in the actual words of Paul Cohen, "made quite sure that the seige was not pressed home." (p. 54) But we should be careful to keep our own language neutral, and "sabotage" is not neutral. Besides, I do not find the word in the sources cited.

The rest of the section is similarly not neutral, out of proportion in a article about Ronglu, and covered in other articles, especially Boxer Rebellion.

There are problems with the form of the citations, such as piling on extra notes, putting in the address of the publisher, including quotes in the note. These could be dealt with, but there are problems with the sources themselves. Peter Fleming writes a thrilling story, but this is a tertiary source written before the solid research was done, and he does not cite his own sources. One that he does mention is the notorious Diary of Ching Shan, which is a forgery. The Outline History of China by Gowen is outdated; Singleton's World's Great Events is a compilation of newspaper accounts; the Cosmopolitan article and Living Age are Original Research; the Robert Hart quotes are spicy and could be used to illustrate points made in reliable secondary sources but they are not given, only the reference.
