Initial impressions edit

  • There are some ambiguous links I just fixed, the easy ones. I am not going to take the time to figure out which of the 25 or so places in Italy called San Martino the article refers to, but somebody must do this. Another dab link problem is Richard Holmes—which one of those guys reviewed the book favorably? Another Dick Holmes altogether? Binksternet (talk) 02:08, 19 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
  • Checklinks looks good. Binksternet (talk) 02:08, 19 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
  • The lead section is too short. Per WP:LEAD, it must summarize the article's contents. Skirth's memoir is not mentioned, nor is any of his life after WWI. Binksternet (talk) 02:16, 19 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
  • The "Character and beliefs" section bounces backward from 1939 to the Western Front. Binksternet (talk) 02:16, 19 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
  • Per WP:DASH, the em dash should not be surrounded by spaces, as it is in two instances. Binksternet (talk) 02:16, 19 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
  • His post-war life is absent save for the passing mention of a teaching career. Binksternet (talk) 02:27, 19 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
  • The image File:Ronald Skirth (1897-1977) seated.jpg is not tagged for use in a biography; it is tagged for only the book article. Binksternet (talk) 02:34, 19 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Failing article edit

I am failing this article because of major problems with prose, focus, and for too much missing from the man's post-war life. The only image in the article is not a fair use image—it is for a book, not a bio. The article can be brought to GA level only by a great deal of effort, an effort I do not expect to occur.
