Notice that now that the container issue has been as extensively sourced as feasible, it has been deleted from the article's versions following the one linked above. Most of those scientists who try to belittle Richter's work have never done anything of importance by themselves. Nobody in Argentina, specially those engaged with Balseiro's academic heritage, understood and could appreciate Richter's research.--200.43.201.109 17:36, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

Poor sourcing/cleanup

I'm putting a cleanup template on this article, and I wanted to explain why here. This article is really vague about sourcing. I can help with the writing, but the sourcing not so much. Example:

He attended the German University of Prague until 1935 when, according to one source, he was awarded a doctorate in natural sciences. Other source claims that he was not awarded a doctoral degree because he had misinterpreted his research results. He had concluded that he had discovered delta rays being emmited by the earth, but in fact he had been detecting X-rays scattered by the ground.

According to Santos Mayo's recollections, he had personally heard Richard Gans say that

Richter proposed a thesis, at the German University of Prague, to detect "delta rays" emitted from Earth. Professor Heinrich Rausch von Traubenberg did not agree with the project. The "young genius" went to work somewhere else and graduated in a different field.

Kurt Sitte's recollections of Richter's research under Prof. Furth differed.

For those who try to belittle Richter's work

Unlikely to happen. 200 refuses to register an account (I can't provide a diff because I can't possibly remember which IP he was using when he said it - he comes back with a different one each time) and doesn't show any interest in formal dispute resolution. Richter's claims

"In October 1950, on Huemul Island, for the first time I was successful in producing an inertia-controlled, strongly non-Maxwellian, proton-hydrogen, high-pressure plasma. When injecting lithium hydride, gamma-counter tubes were detecting some 17,6 MeV gamma quants. In other experiments, I was producing a deuterium plasma by gradually dissociating injected heavy water, until neutron emission was setting in. This was the first step of the research programme."

"On 15. December 1950 the shock-wave-generating process was running at full power input, the shock-waves emitting an almost unbearable amount of 'white' ultra-sound. X-ray counter tubes, connected to recording counting rate meters, were indicating a considerable background of soft X-rays (Bremsstrahlung). The detonating plasma system was almost invisible, i.e., the plasma zone was characterised by an enormous discrepancy: a high-intensity emission of ultraviolet radiation, and a very-low-intensity emission of red emission - with nothing in between. To the best of my knowledge, no other laboratory in the world has ever achieved such rather strange plasma conditions."

"The second step was intending to couple the neutrons and tritium nuclei, produced by shock-induced deuterium-deuterium reactions with highly reactant atomic nuclei of lithium-6 and lithium-7, thus setting off a sequence of reactions which, when reaching criticality, were expected to produce a neutron-reproducing and tritium-multiplying chain reaction in lithium-6-enriched lithium. The first successful exponential experiment of this kind was taking place on 16 February, 1951. In June 1952, a different sequence of reactions was being tested in another successful experiment, in which the tritium nuclei produced by neutron capture in lithium-6 were reacting with protons, and by doing so were emitting 20 MeV gamma photons. In other words, in the first kind of exponential experiment I was testing the basic reaction scheme of a most effective hydrogen bomb and neutron bomb, while in the second kind of exponential experiments, I was testing what amounts to a tactical battle-field bomb, a gamma-flash bomb"
