Proposed deletion edit

An anonynmous editor proposed deleting this article and wrote on my talk page:

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Rolf Rodenstock, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at its talk page. Removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, but the article may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. 172.144.122.155 04:41, 9 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm going to remove the prod. I think this guy is famous in the camera business, and the German wiki has plenty of info we can incorporate here when we get around to it. And here are a bunch of book hits about him. The "not notable" claim sounds unlikely to me in face of this evidence. Dicklyon 04:49, 9 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Adding it back. You haven't shown his importance. When you do, you show the importance instead of imply it here, that is different. until then, you haven't proven his importance.

OK, I've translated the contents from the Germin wiki and found some other sources and added some more info and refs. By the way, it is never proper to put back a "prod" that has been removed, as it tells you in the comment. Dicklyon 05:06, 14 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

This guy is very well known in Germany where "Rodenstock" is a household name. The article contains some real info, difficult to find elsewhere. As he is dead, vanity is unlikely to be an issue here. Leave it in!User:rphk2003 24 May 2009
