Article Cleanup

I am updating most of the article with Notes and References to meet Wiki notability, encyclopedic and article style guidelines (as best I can) since the article was flagged for references and tone. I also checked out (and joined) the Wikibeer Project and reviewed the discussions there. The biggest change to the existing article is that I feel it is best to remove the specific beer sub-headings as they are not referenced and are subjective. Where possible I have will referenced reference specific beers that have been mentioned in national publications and newspapers and included the review as a note. I also plan on adding a list of beers that have won top medals for Rogue in another subsection as well Awotter 01:29, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for taking on the cleanup and removing the beer reviews! I enjoy a Rogue as much as the next person, but this article was definitely not encyclopedic. Katr67 22:07, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
Wanted to add note that I am not affiliated with any company, website or product in the article nor do I know any of the people mentioned. Awotter 00:07, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

Retrieval date format

Year first: 2007-09-18 will eliminate the redlinks. Katr67 23:09, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

Thank you, updated. So much to learn!Awotter 20:57, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

Export to Japan

Marvelous work on the article, Awotter. Epic! Question: do you have any information about Rogue's export activities? I was under the impression they were a steady exporter of beer to Japan, a country that doesn't import very much beer at all. Binksternet 05:50, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for the feedback Binksternet, that's information I haven't followed up on but it would be interesting to know given their interaction with chef Morimoto and that at least one ale was exported to Japan before being sold in the US.Awotter 06:09, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

Notable Potable Section

I realize this section violates multiple style and layout rules and guidelines, however, I wanted to give an idea of the variety of beer styles within ales that Rogue brews, as well as provide an indication of the critical response their brews receive (such as the awards for quality in international competitions) and to show what critics and consumer's say about them specifically and I thought this table format with notes and references was a way to do that given that I am not that up on CSS web markup techniques. So I followed Wiki advice and broke the rules! Awotter 06:08, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

WikiProject Oregon Re-assessment request

I have reviewed the artilce, and although it has made many improvments it is still a start class article, but with a little work it will make it to B class.

  • Currently there are basically 3 footnote sections, and you need a decoder ring to read the article. Take the info from the "footnotes" section and work the info into the body of the article (consider maybe a history section). With the notable ales, change the first note to a regular citation (so it appears in the refs section) and then convert to a different table with the beer names in the far left column, then next column could be type (porter, stout, etc.), next column year introduced if available, and then awards. This will make this far easier to read.
  • Lead section needs to be changed to less footnotes. The lead is a general summary, though with some specifics and even a few citations. Simply shorten to more general and move any info that would be lost to other sections.
  • In line external links. Convert these to footnotes to match the rest of the article.

That's it to get to B class. You'll also be well on your way to GA class after that. Aboutmovies 05:00, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

Discontinued beers?

Rogue also donates ongoing proceeds of a specialty brew series to the Oregon Coast Aquarium (past beers have included Spiny Lumpsucker Ale, Wolf Eel Ale, Shark Tooth Ale and Sea Otter Amber). One (Whale Ale) was even crafted in honor of Keiko the orca

So were these beers discontinued? --98.232.180.37 (talk) 22:16, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

Ashland brewery?

Is the original Ashland brewery still there? --98.232.180.37 (talk) 22:16, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

Other Beers

Something should be mentioned about the Track Town Ales and the Issaquah Brewery since they are owned by Rogue.
