Source needed for cause of death edit

It was widely reported at the time of his death that Carmel had committed suicide. One of the sources linked by this very article suggests a drug overdose might be the cause. This is actually the first I've seen of the heart failure cause. There needs to be a source given for his cause of death, given published reports that differ. 68.146.81.123 (talk) 18:43, 17 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Leaving Mothers-in-Law edit

This is the first I have read that Carmel left Mothers-in-Law due to drugs. The story I recall was that he and the other big name performers had contracts calling for a 20% pay increase for the second season. The network picked up the show, but on condition that actor pay not increase. The other actors consented to give up the raise, but he didn't and left. I think the other actors would be upset that this story of them giving up a raise was circulated if it was not true. He had trouble getting work after that, but that is consistent with either drugs or contract dispute.

I don't think it hurt the show for him to leave. The fathers-in-law on Mothers-in-law were not that important to the show. Deacon was a less expressive actor, but the show wasn't making use of Carmel's talents.  Randall Bart   Talk  01:34, 20 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

"The Menagerie" was a two-parter... edit

I assume we are not counting actors who appeared as the same characters in both parts of that episode as actors who "repeated as the same character"? Hijiri 88 (やや) 15:33, 4 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Star Trek focus... again (re info box photo) edit

The Info box features a photo of Carmel in his role on Star Trek. I have commented on this in numerous articles but articles about anyone who ever had any connection to Star Trek typically end up with that as the primary thing we see. Must this always be so? Sure, Trek is obviously remembered more than The Mothers In Law, but on that show Carmel was a lead, not a guest star. I suggest a photo from that would be more appropriate even if it's less in the zeitgeist.MrNeutronSF (talk) 10:31, 20 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

I changed the photo to one of Carmel from The Mothers in Law, and moved the one of him in Mudd's Women to the Wikipedia article on Mudd's Women.Johndrobcuny (talk) 16:14, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
