Creation year dispute

I have found that a source says Roblox was created in 2004. However, the source I found that said it was made pre-2004 or 2004 was an unofficial Roblox wiki and fan-made. Ilikepie757 (talk) 22:28, 19 April 2012 (UTC)

For bloody sake, I was just about to put this here. So many spelling and grammar errors, and very irrelevant information like the IM stuff. It's like this article was wrote by an eleven year old. None of this is professional, and barely any of it is relevant. I don't even care for this game, and I'm going to edit it and fix all the bloody mistakes because it is so sickening to look at that it makes me ashamed of Wikipedia's free editing policy. Criticism

The "Criticism" section really has to go. Not only is it very poorly written, but complaining that premium features cost money is not a valid criticism. you can buy roblox game cards at GAME in the UK, and no one has added this. if you dis,agree with me, then please go to a game store in the UK, and look at the gift cards. they used to also sell them in game-station, but now game-station and game have linked into one company, under the name of game.

i know they don't have any info on their website, but they do have them!

While I do agree that a more specific request is needed for an edit request, I will say that is is possible to grant non-autoconfirmed users permission to edit semi-protected pages. It depends on however the designer of the elevator prefers it to be. But since most elevators are just "press button and ride", you just have to press the floor you want to go on, then step in, and you're on your way. ZappaOMati 01:18, 27 April 2013 (UTC)

Revisions

I am in a very strong disagreement with the revision of my edits. When I made the edits, I was give +1555. When the edits were undone, the revision was given -1555. As you can obviously see, it was better with my edits. Instead of just undoing the whole edit, just change the parts that were bad. I would be fine with that. But completely getting rid of the changes is just rude.

I think trying to present any point of view will not work well for a subject like this where highly reliable sources are relatively nonexistent. Most of the sources are articles on more or less reliable blogs and, in some rare cases, newspapers. Request for fixing some messed-up formatting

In the History and Development section, under Development and Beta (2004-2006), some italic formatting is messed up. Could this be fixed?

I believe that the author meant to put an end-italic mark after Roblox Points rather than ". Hence, this is the exact edit that should be made.

Incorrect information should be removed

Under the Moderation section, it says you can view the profile of a banned user. I tried to view the profile of an existent but banned user Kohltastrophe and failed. The aforementioned counterexample disproves the statement that you can view the profile of a banned user, hence said statement should be deleted.

I am not very fond of pictures, but after looking at the article, I noticed that it only had two pictures: one which is the Roblox logo and is in the infobox, and another which is a screenshot of the Roblox Studio 2013. Considering Roblox is a game where everything takes place in-game or on the website, it is true that this article might be lacking pictures (screenshots in particular). However, Roblox is proprietary software, and so all images must be uploaded to this wiki and tagged appropriately; we should also not abuse them. I think it would be valuable to mention that the terms of service contain the following statement:

You can display our pictures on your own personal web pages for your personal noncommercial use ONLY as long as you write either "Copyright 2005 ROBLOX Corporation All Rights Reserved. Used With Permission" or "(c) 2005 ROBLOX, Inc. All Rights Reserved. Used With Permission" on EVERY page with our pictures and/or text and you link directly to us. Firstly, it is a massively multiplayer game, as it has many features characteristic of an MMO (such as premium currency, clothing, etc). Secondly, a lot of the Roblox games integrate with the aforementioned MMO aspect of Roblox, making the game development part of Roblox very reliant on the Roblox platform. Thirdly, when you make a game, it is completely reliant on Roblox servers, as there is no way to make a game and completely disconnect it from Roblox. However, it shares many features with a game engine. It has an IDE (Roblox Studio), programming language, libraries, and other attributes characteristic of a game engine. Also, the definitive standard for figuring out what to say about a subject of an article is what most reliable sources (e.g. newspapers, magazines, peer reviewed journals, etc.) say about the subject. From what I can say, most reliable sources state that Roblox is an MMO, although you're welcome to find more sources to prove me wrong. I also think that the lede reflects the duality of the MMO and the game engine not as well as it could, in which it is stating that it is definitively an MMO (due to the centralized aspect of Roblox). However, it also states the "virtual world" creativity aspect, but in a way that is ambiguous as to the ability of Roblox in its current state (kind of implying it is like any other world building game, but this one has scripting). I would 'strongly suggest' you write a version of the lede that both captures the fact it is an MMO, but also states the flexibility of the game creation interface and post the revised lede here. Not to beat a dead horse here, but Roblox the game has taken on a life of its own, while Roblox the company is a business entity with more than 120 employees, that gives backs charities and partners with boys and girls club, and other organizations to give kids in need opportunity. Roblox as far as the "game" goes, is not a single massively multiplayer online game, but a platform for people to build games, and Roblox the company provides the resources for developers and novices to build their own "worlds". Roblox should be split to define the company versus the platform. Just like Google is split from Google Search, or Microsoft is separate from Microsoft Windows, Roblox the company is the impetus for, but not the definition of Roblox the platform. Yeah, I notice that the article cites only a few reliable secondary sources noting the game, but that put aside, this article may be the messiest Wikipedia article about a video game that I have ever seen. It needs to be completely rewritten. However, given that there are so many secondary sources talking about the game, I would encourage people to keep the article for the changes to take place. Dodgy business

The intro to this article has a paragraph in there that seems to be whole-sale ripped straight from the company's marketing department -

"ROBLOX is the best place to Imagine with Friends™. With the largest user-generated online gaming platform, and over 15 million games created by users, ROBLOX is the #1 gaming site for kids and teens (comScore). Every day, virtual explorers come to ROBLOX to create adventures, play games, role play, and learn with their friends in a family-friendly, immersive, 3D environment."

THE CLASH OF WAR

              The Clash Of War

In the old, foggy, abandon world there was a captain called Captain Bob and Captain George. They both were partners their problem was that there was a fight between this bad guy call Mr. Evil Alien. They were fighting because of land that they wanted by themselves. Then Captain Bob and Captain George made an agreement with Mr. Evil Alien. What they said to Mr. Evil Alien was,

“ Let’s war and whoever wins gets the land”,

then Mr. Evil Alien said, “ Ok, I agree.”

Then when it was night time the both teams got all of their soldiers out. In Captain Bob’s and Captain George’s soldiers were Big Barbarians, Professional Archers, Giants, Sneaky Wizards, and Healers. In Mr. Evil Alien’s soldiers was Fast Goblins, Wall breakers, Dragons, Golems, And Lava Hounds. (What Lava Hounds does like when they die they have Lava Pups.) (Lava Pups are the minions of Lava Hounds.)

When the both teams were making the plans for their soldiers at night. Captain Bob and Captain George discuss how and where their soldiers are going to go. Then when Mr. Evil Alien was discussing with their soldiers, he wanted to put traps around Captain Bob’s and Captain George’s Castle. Mr. Evil Alien Said to his soldiers was

“ Those traps are powerful traps.”

“ So, when one of the soldiers from Captain Bob and Captain George attacked one of the traps is going to activate and trap them to the DEATH.”

All of his soldiers cheered to Mr. Evil Alien and said “ YOU ARE THE BEST!”

they said to the Mr. Evil Alien. The next day when Captain Bob and Captain George said to his one of his soldier: Barbarian to go out and check if there is anyone outside. When the Barbarian went outside one of the traps EXPLOSION and killed the barbarian. Then when Captain bob and Captain George heard the explosion they both quickly ran outside to check what was going on. Then they saw blood all over the ground. After that Captain Bob and Captain George went inside the castle and said to their soldiers that 4 soldiers should be on the roof for a watch out. Then the 4 soldiers went up the roof for a watch out.

While in the Dark side Mr. Evil Alien was planning to put more Traps. The traps that he was thinking about was to launch one of Captain Bob & Captain George soldiers up to the moon, That was spring traps. After that at night when Captain Bob and Captain George was sleeping and his soldiers were sleeping. Then Mr. Evil Alien went in front of Captain Bob’s and Captain George’s castle. Then Mr.Evil Alien put the spring traps in front of the gate and went back to his place. Then 4 of Captain Bob and Captain George’s soldiers saw Mr.Evil Alien then all 4 of Captain Bob and Captain George's soldiers went hop down and the spring traps activated and launch all 4 of the soldiers to the moon.

In the morning Captain Bob and Captain George went to the roof and saw there was no one then they went down stairs and went outside and saw the deactivated spring traps. After that they took the spring traps inside and checked how it works. When they put the spring traps down on the table they took one spring trap and press down the spring trap then captain Bob put it down then he put a bottle on top the spring trap and the spring trap launch the bottle high till the roof. After that he told to Captain George and said

“We need to put these spring traps in front of Mr.Evil Alien’s gate.” Then Captain George said

“Yeah that’s a good idea.”

When it was afternoon Captain Bob and Captain George was making plan how they are gonna go and put the spring traps in front of Mr.Evil Alien’s gate. Then Captain Bob said

“I know how!” After that Captain George said

“How!?!” Then Captain Bob said

“We are gonna put our black masks on then put the spring traps in front of the gate as much as we can.”

After that at night Captain Bob and Captain George went out and wear their black masks. When they were close to Mr.Evil Alien’s place they took out the the spring traps just to be ready. When they reached to the front gate of Mr.Evil Alien’s place they put as many spring traps as they could. When they were done putting the spring traps Captain Bob and Captain George went back in their castle. When they were in the castle they both took off their black masks and went up stairs and went to their bedroom and sleep.

When it was day time Mr.Evil Alien was planning to say sorry to Captain Bob and Captain George for putting the traps. As soon he walked out of his castle he stepped on one of the spring traps that Captain Bob and Captain George put last night. Then what happen was that the spring trap got activated and launched Mr.Evil Alien to his place and he crashed to the wall. When he got crashed into the wall he fainted and then his fast goblins went and took him inside and when Mr.Evil Alien woke up he saw that he was lying on his bed. Then he got so MAD that he wanted to make a bigger trap. The trap that he wanted to make was a potion that can make people, and things asleep. Then he went outside and told his golem to go outside to remove the spring traps.

After that it was afternoon, that time Mr.Evil Alien went to Captain Bob and Captain George castle for a talk. Then when he was in front of Captain Bob and Captain George gate and Shouted “HEY CAPTAIN BOB COME DOWN HERE!” Then Captain Bob went down stairs and went outside the gate and saw Mr.Evil Alien. Then Captain Bob said

“Yes?”

Mr.Evil Alien shouted at Captain Bob “I DECLARE A WAR!” Then Captain Bob said 

“Ok then.”After that Mr.Evil Alien said

“Next Week is the war!” Then Captain Bob said

“Ok, what’s the war for?” then Mr.Evil.Alien said

“The war is if I wins get to keep your land, and if i lose u get to keep my land.” Then Captain Bob said

“Ok sure.”

After that Mr.Evil Alien went back to his place and started making the position of sleeping. When he was making it he thought about something much BIGGER. The thing he was thinking was to make the potion and put the potion in Captain Bob and Captain George’s Soldiers drinks at night. When it was night time at Captain Bob and Captain George castle they were thinking about where to put their soldiers. After that made a map where the soldiers will go. When Captain Bob made the map he sticked it around the castle to let his soldiers to see where they are supposed to be. After that Captain Bob and Captain George called every single of his soldier to go outside. When everyone is outside Captain George made a speech that Captain Bob has made the map for where the soldiers should be. When Captain George was giving out his speech, Captain Bob went outside just to check anything going on. When he was standing outside he heard a lot of puffs. The puffs he heard was at Mr.Evil Alien’s place. That time Mr.Evil Alien was creating the sleeping potions. Then after that Captain Bob went inside curiously. Then after Captain George finished giving out his speech he saw Captain Bob look curiously. Then Captain George asked

“What happen?” Then Captain Bob replied

“Oh, I just heard puffs at Mr.Evil Aliens place. So that makes me worried when the war starts next week.”

“No worries. I think he just wanted to make his soldiers stronger, and if he makes his soldiers stronger then we need to train our soldiers even more.”

said Captain George. In the meantime Mr.Evil Alien made dozens of sleepy potions. Then Mr.Evil Alien said

“I need a plan how I should put these sleepy potion in to Captain Bob and Captain George’s soldiers.”

After that he had his plan and told every single one of his soldiers to go outside and wait in front of the stage. When everybody was waiting in front of the stage Mr.Evil Alien went up the stage and said

“I have made a plan how I should put these sleepy potions in to Captain Bob and Captain George’s soldiers when the war starts!” Then every soldiers of Mr.Evil Alien cheered to Mr.Evil Alien.

After one week passed by the EPIC war music goes on like this: thuthunthuthunthuthun. After that Captain Bob and Captain George went in the middle and waited for Mr.Evil Alien to come in the middle. A few minutes later Mr.Evil Alien went outside and went in the middle and saw Captain Bob and Captain George standing and waiting in the middle. After that Captain Bob and Captain George said

“What took you so long!?!” Then Mr.Evil Alien replayed

“Oh, me? I was just getting ready for my soldiers.” Captain Bob and Captain George said

“Can we start the war or not?” After that Mr.Evil.Alien said

During a Twitch broadcast of The Next Level, a viewer asked if Roblox would ever appear on PlayStation 3. Jack Hendrik answered "No", the game would release neither on PS3 nor Xbox 360. However he confirmed the existence of a PlayStation 4 version, replying: "PS4, soon, it's in production, that has been confirmed, we are working on it for PS4." In regards to article issues

I am an editor on this page and there have been issues dating back to June. The issues are as followed:

• This article may rely excessively on sources too closely associated with the subject, potentially preventing the article from being verifiable and neutral. (From June 2016)
• The lead section of this article may need to be rewritten. The reason given is: Lack of neutral point of view. (From January 2017)

The first issue I will address first as originally being my fault back in June, putting too many primary sources for a new section of the article. That section was removed a couple months ago and the sources have been revised throughout most of the article to be non-biased in regards to sourcing, and I feel like that note should be removed.

The next issue was with the article not being neutral. I have revised the lead section to be more neutral and can edit some more aspects to fix any continual issues.
