Population incorporates critical context edit

Belle Plaine has lost population in four out of the last six decades. It's a quaint and lovely, formerly quiet town whose demise was accelerated by the 24-hour din of the railroad whistles. The endless whistles have substantially reduced the quality of life of residents. That issue should have been addressed in the Environmental Impact Report (E.I.R.) when the line was double-tracked but seems not to have sufficiently been done. The preservation efforts of Macy and her friends will likely breathe new life into the town that might have otherwise disappeared in the near future. The success of these preservation efforts will likely be as notable as her musical career and perhaps a model for other, similarly situated communities. The title of the December 2020 Wichita Eagle article about their success is, appropriately, "David vs. Goliath." Activist (talk) 14:44, 29 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
