As Robert Sloman was born in Oldham at the same time as Robert Sloman (rugby league) was playing rugby league for Oldham, could they be related? Robert Sloman's obituary states "Although he was born in Oldham, his Devonian family returned to Plymouth when Bob was two", i.e. circa 1928-29 which coincides with the end of Robert Sloman (rugby league)'s career at Oldham, and Robert Sloman (rugby league) was likely born January→March in Stoke Damerel, Devon.
