Edward M. Rice edit

There is too much information about Auxiliary Bishop Hermann's successor-designate in this article. All that needs to be said about Auxiliary Bishop-designate Rice, is that he succeeds Auxiliary Bishop Hermann. Additional biographical information about Bishop Rice that does not involve Bishop Hermann is not necessary and should be removed. The information is already covered in the article about Edward M. Rice. Vereverde (talk) 17:20, 4 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

The superfluous information about Edward M. Rice was removed by Drjmarkov on 2 January 2011. Vereverde (talk) 17:24, 31 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Infobox edit

This is a very prolonged article and some things are basically incorrect. The infobox is about a bishop, who is an ordinary for the diocese, not for the auxiliary bishop, who serves as his aid. The auxiliary bishop does not have a real See, but a "titular" one.In this flow of the thoughts his successor and predecessor are the bishops of the same titular see, not the ones, who are or have been auxiliary of the same diocese. I am going to remove the infobox and if somebody has any objections - write to me.Drjmarkov (talk) 22:07, 2 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

As a result of the corrections you have made, the infobox at the top of the page is fine. Although it repeats information that is contained in the body of the article, it concentrates important points into one location. Your argument regarding successors and predecessors is valid. 'Auxiliary Bishop' is not a permanent office. When an auxiliary bishop resigns or retires, the only vacant seat is that of the titular see. An auxiliary bishop does not need to be replaced. Futhermore, the Vatican sometimes appoints several auxiliary bishops for one diocese. Therefore, it is a little confusing to speak of a successor or predecessor to any particular auxiliary bishop. Archdiocesan Positions edit

There is a table at the bottom of this article entitled 'Archdiocesan Positions' which does not serve a useful purpose. Many of the cells in the table are 'unknown', but even if someone were to research the offices listed and fill in the omitted information, it would be too trivial to improve the article very much. For example, most people reading an encyclopedia article about Bishop Hermann would not be interested in knowing who preceded or succeeded him as supervisor of the acolyte internship program at the seminary. Most of the known information has already been covered as bullet points in the body of the article, and unlike the infobox at the top of the article, these offices are not that important. Also, as I previously discussed in the topic, 'Infobox' above, it is somewhat confusing to list the predecessor and successor to any particular auxiliary archbishop, in addition to the points made by Drjmarkov. For all these reasons, the table entitled 'Archdiocesan Positions' should be removed. Vereverde (talk) 17:20, 31 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Assessment - Class = Start edit

Greetings, Of the hundreds of Bishop/Archbishop articles that I have updated, this one has a different structure. Today I

  • Added Episcopal career section from the Article lead.
  • Rename section to Biographical summary - resembles a Resume cover page
  • Rename section to Biography details - reads like a Resume

Since I have only been on Wikipedia for a little over a year, another more experienced editor could improve this article beyond these changes. Regards, JoeHebda (talk) 15:44, 28 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
