- The common abbreviation for the Appalachian Trail, which is given under "background". Maybe, since those are the only two references to it in the article, I didn't need to use it. Daniel Case (talk) 20:35, 25 July 2016 (UTC)
Last section/paragraph [ref. 15] seems inaccurate edit
At the top of the article it says Robert Hoagland has never been found. The last section/paragraph of the article says he *was* found--but the dates, location, wife/kid names etc. don`t match. E.g., this Hoagland`s kids were of age when he disappeared, so how would he owe child support? The paragraph accurately relates the info in the reference (15), an Indiana newspaper article, but it`s got to be a different guy. Other sources all over the internet say this Robert Hoagland has not been found. I think the section needs to just come out. 64.139.253.247 (talk) 21:52, 18 November 2021 (UTC)
- That's not even the same guy, you are correct: the IN missing man is Richard Hoagland. Yasuewho was rather careless when they added all that.

Person located edit
This person was located in Rock Hill NY on December 5th 2022. He was found passed away by a roommate where he had been living under the name Richard King. Source Newtown PD. 67.245.216.28 (talk) 14:42, 7 December 2022 (UTC)
Time (past time) to rename? edit
As Hoagland's fate is now known, and I have appropriately expanded the article, I think it's time to just drop the "Disappearance of" from the article title. We normally do this as missing-persons cases are resolved, usually and unfortunately as murders or deaths, solved or unsolved.
While Hoagland's disappearance was resolved post mortem as well, it was not a matter of foul play so obviously "Murder/Killing of ..." is not accurate. Nor do I think "Death of ..." is, either ... his death is unremarkable save for its role in resolving his disappearance.
And, since unlike so many of the missing persons we write about, his death was not roughly contemporaneous with his disappearance, I think his life becomes notable and this article should just be Robert Hoagland (it will have to be moved over the redirect, but that's not a problem for me; we will have to keep the categories from the redirect though and that will require a very minor history merge ... I think?).
Anyone with any thoughts on this, things I might not be considering, please let me know here. Daniel Case (talk) 07:25, 23 January 2023 (UTC)
