In which book is Jackson assassinated? Maybe in the period between The Bear and the Dragon and Teeth of the Tiger, but that should be stated in the article. - Crisco_1492
Ya, after Ryan resigned Jackson was President until killed. But he wasn't replaced by Kealty, no one knows who came after him. All we know is Kealty was elected as President in Teeth of the Tiger. The succession box should say "Edward Kealty (Eventually).--Mike Theodore 21:38, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
I think either people misinterpreted Clancy's meaning to the end of Ryan's presidency OR Clancy himself opted to change it in "Dead Or Alive". My understanding of the sequence is this: Ryan serves the remainder of Durling's term and is re-elected to a 4 year term. As the time draws near for him to decide to run again or not, since he is eligible to serve another term, he opts not to run and leave office, thus anointing Robby Jackson as his "successor". Jackson campaigns in a close election against Kealty and is assassinated six days before the election, which Kealty wins by default. Ryan remains president until January 20 when he turns over the keys to Kealty. Jackson never served as President from my understanding, though I have to look at "Teeth of the Tiger" again because I seem to remember it coming out and saying Jackson was president. If so, it seems Clancy changed the narrative (or messed it up and tried to clumsily correct it). I think the idea of Ryan declining to run again, Jackson being assassinated during the campaign (while still VP) and Kealty succeeding Ryan as a result is a much more sensible storyline. I don't think Jackson was ever President. As I recall, Jack retiring simply meant that he didn't go for re-election and that Jackson ran in his stead. Emperor001 (talk) 03:55, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
