Similar names and identifying this river

edit

I started looking into this after seeing Das Bois River red-linked. Seemed odd because I thought I had just seen that river's page. (I had perhaps seen Rio dos Bois (Paranaíba River)). There are many rivers in Brazil with the same name, and long story short, I am focusing on the coordinates given in this article. These coordinates: 18°1′S 50°14′W / 18.017°S 50.233°W / -18.017; -50.233 clearly show the mouth location of the Rio Verdão, see its Portuguese page here, emptying into the Rio dos Bois (Paranaíba River). Rio Verdão is Portuguese for "Summer River". Using the coordinates above, here is the Google maps link showing the confluence and the two rivers clearly named "Rio Verdão" and "Rio dos Bois". The map currently linked in this WP page shows this same confluence, but unfortunately only labels one of two the rivers ("Rio dos Bois"). The Portuguese article also has coordinates to the same confluence, albeit more accurate: 18° 00′ 44″ S, 50° 13′ 36″ W. As far as I can tell, while there may be more than one river in Goiás state named "Rio Verde", there are none that discharge into a river named "Das Bois" (or "Dos Bois").

Very soon I am going to make several changes in this article based on the above.

About this time tomorrow if there are no objections, I am planning on moving this page to Rio Verdão (Rio dos Bois). --DB1729 (talk) 03:29, 7 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Done Note: Moved page to Rio Verdão as it occurred to me after posting that there was no other existing articles named "Rio Verdão" and so no need for a disambiguator. --DB1729 (talk) 04:14, 8 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
