British firms did it all?

I thought that it was just the central span that was done by a British firm and that the other expanses were done by Brazilian firms.--Wloveral (talk) 14:46, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

Spelling about to Change

Due to a recently accepted orthography change for the Portuguese language, all "ói" diphthongs are to be changed into "oi," so Rio-Niterói will be spelled "Rio-Niteroi" as of the 1st of January, 2009. Yes, place names count, as a city now called Valinhos used to be called Vallinhos (note the double L), but after a spelling change (of 1935, I think), valle, the root word of Vallinhos, would be spelled vale, changing the name of the city to Valinhos.

This information is wrong, only paroxytone words will lose the acute accent. So, assembleia and heroico lose the accent, but herói and niterói don't, because they are oxytones. Capmo (talk) 06:56, 6 October 2009 (UTC)

Queen Elizabeth's state visit

Construction began symbolically on August 23, 1968, in the presence of Queen Elizabeth II ... is often copied and pasted, but wrong: According to List of state visits made by Elizabeth II, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip visited Brazil from 5–11 November 1968.[1]. They were in Rio from 8–11 November and the Queen attended the symbolic start of the construction on 9 November.[2] The detailed account of the Brazilian Foreign Office does not, at that instance, mention Prince Philip.
