Removing my edits
editThere is a person who keeps on removing all my edits Eyrieenact (talk) 07:43, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
- @Eyrieenact: Your edits are not improving the article, and worse you are adding unsourced content to a WP:BLP. That's why you are being reverted. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 14:15, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
Redux
editWhy were my edits removed? Uricdivine (talk) 15:09, 14 June 2022 (UTC)
- Because you obviously do not know or understand WP:TVCAST – with fictional characters we use the common name. Her name on the show is "Charlotte". Her surname is uttered all of once in over 100 episodes, and even that surname may have been a gag, and may not be her real surname. Regardless, we go by common name – the name that a character is referred to most often – with fictional characters. On top of that, you weren't even capitalizing correctly, which seriously calls into question your competence as an editor. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 15:33, 14 June 2022 (UTC)
Onye wukwa zen o,I wasn't ignoring the talk page, after the first editing I came to the talk page to see if anyone left me any message but I couldn't find my topic again so I left not knowing it was inside another topic. I understand what you mean and I now agree I was wrong am sorry, aslo I don't think my capitalization is incorrect but maybe I made a mistake sorry for that to.~ Uricdivine (talk) 16:21, 14 June 2022 (UTC)
Also I wasn't doing any disruptive editing. Uricdivine (talk) 16:22, 14 June 2022 (UTC)
No longer a child
edit@IJBall: You know, I agree with the IP removing "child actress" from the descriptions, since Downs is no longer a child, it is inappropriate to label her as such. I checked a few other actresses who had their start in childhood and we sure as hell don't label other adults as children. Elizium23 (talk) 16:36, 3 December 2022 (UTC)
- What about
"She started as a child actress. Don't remove valid info - add to or supplement it."
is unclear? She will always have started as a "child actress". You do not simply remove this information from the lede when someone turns 18. The correct way to handle this is something like Shirley Temple. At most articles this is handled wrong – when they become adults you change the wording to something like,"...began their career as a child actress in...
This isn't hard. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 16:42, 3 December 2022 (UTC)- You also added it back to her short description which does not describe her anymore. She is an actress. She has current, adult roles. Elizium23 (talk) 16:46, 3 December 2022 (UTC)
- Sure, if you're going to OTHERSTUFF this with Shirley Temple whose notability hinges on her child acting, we've got
{{Short description|American actress, singer, dancer, and diplomat (1928–2014)}}
. Where does it say "child" in there? Elizium23 (talk) 16:48, 3 December 2022 (UTC)- Am I talking to the air?
"Don't remove valid info - add to or supplement it."
The correct answer is to revise the lede (and SD). I don't have time to do it right currently. No one is stopping you. But "child actress" is a key part of this subject's career – you don't just remove valid and true info from the lede. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 16:51, 3 December 2022 (UTC)- Thanks to Amaury for constructively getting the ball rolling on this. Article and lede are now revised properly. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 20:42, 3 December 2022 (UTC)
- Am I talking to the air?
Article is still a borderline-WP:STUB – it's now long enough for 'Start' class, but I feel the sourcing is still not there to promote to 'Start' (not enough coverage of Downs herself). If anyone can find one or two more sources that cover Downs personally, that should be enough. With the Hulu movie out, Downs may get a profile or two now. Please keep an eye out – one or two more good sources should get this article to 'Start' class. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 15:44, 9 December 2022 (UTC)
- Changed my mind – I think it's just nominally 'Start'-class now, though it is still weak on the sourcing side certainly. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 20:41, 1 January 2023 (UTC)
DOB - Instagram source
editIs her IG post the only source for Downs' date of birth? It's a very poor source. First, I can't see any blue-check or "verified" mark that indicates this is an authentic account owned by this person. Second, the content of the post is a casual photo of her, "18 with an attitude" and 5 emojis. I don't see any explicit claim to having a birthday on that day. So pardon me if it seems a bit of a stretch and I require some more solid sourcing for this fact in a WP:BLP. Elizium23 (talk) 16:17, 9 December 2022 (UTC)
- Could be converted to a {{birth based on age as of date}} source, if there's a concern. Though the bigger issue would be a lack of a verified account... Does Nick do actor bios, and was there one for Downs? --IJBall (contribs • talk) 16:42, 9 December 2022 (UTC)
Downs on Bel-Air (TV series)
editNote, this is a source that confirms Downs' participation in the second season of Bel-Air (TV series). However, it does not confirm a "recurring role", just a guest appearance. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 23:08, 25 February 2023 (UTC)
