Needs help and a Reviewer
Have done some clean up on this article. It needs a lot of work as well as a good Reviewer. I'm a little concerned that it may have been placed here by a WP:COI and POV user as prelude to an upcoming mayoral campaign by the article's subject. Lhb1239 (talk) 01:56, 3 September 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for cleaning it up. I agree, it reminds me of many of the prelude-to-campaign COI articles that appear around election season. tedder (talk) 02:06, 3 September 2011 (UTC)
Reverts
I've reverted some earlier changes to the article as they were (from my understanding of Wikipedia standards and policies) self-promotional, advertisement, and undue weight (not related to the article subject). Can we discuss here before these changes are reverted? Thanks. Lhb1239 (talk) 03:07, 3 September 2011 (UTC)
Merge with Caruso Affiliated
Am proposing that the Caruso Affiliated article be merged with this article. Not sure the article subject (Caruso Affiliated) has enough notability or the article will ever have enough in it to merit standing alone. Discussion, comments, thoughts please. Lhb1239 (talk) 19:21, 23 September 2011 (UTC)
- I think that Caruso Affiliated should simply be deleted as non-Notable. Many of the projects, yes, are Notable (they have their own articles), but not the company itself. It seems to be synonymous with its owner. I am assuming that Rick Caruso is the only stockholder and that there are no others. So, well, OK, merge it with Rick's article, if need be, but keep it all very short. Yours, GeorgeLouis (talk) 23:39, 24 September 2011 (UTC)
- Actually, I agree that the article should be deleted, but thought that might be too harsh a move (to put up a delete template) and get shot down. I was actually hoping someone with more Wikipedia miles on them would suggest the article be deleted outright - which you did, so.... What's the next move in this type of situation? Lhb1239 (talk) 23:45, 24 September 2011 (UTC)
- A redirect is cheap. The Rick Caruso article is certainly going to say "he owns Caruso Affiliated", so Caruso Affiliated should stay. That's different than say, a garage band or an article on my cat, which gets deleted and isn't deserving of a redirect. Look at WP:REDIRECT#DELETE for examples of times when a redirect shouldn't exist. tedder (talk) 01:44, 25 September 2011 (UTC)

- Merge. Thinking it over, merging would be preferable, providing Caruso is actually the sole owner of this business. Anybody typing Caruso Affiliated would then be taken to the Rick article, which could (I believe without controversy) contain the names of any businesses that he owns or controls—of course, relying on Neutral Sources. Anybody can do this after about week or ten days of discussion, provided Consensus develops to do so. Sincerely, GeorgeLouis (talk) 00:07, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
- Merge Caruso Affiliated to the Rick Caruso article. tedder (talk) 01:44, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
Merge discussion
I took a stab at re-doing the front of this but it needs work. As for the merge/not merge discussion, Caruso Affiliated is a pretty well-established development firm and needs to have its own page. This page should be specifically focused on Caruso, as there is a lot of press about him and not Affiliated, and vice versa. Make sense?--Stlamanda (talk) 19:38, 11 May 2013 (UTC)
- I'm deleting the merge tag because of lack of interest. If I am mistaken, just put it back. GeorgeLouis (talk) 16:07, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
Career Section?
Came across this page through CAT:MERGE and regardless of the merge discussion, seems to me that a WP:BLP page like this should have a career section. Anyone opposed to me changing the /*Developments*/ section to /*Career*/? Rjp422 (talk) 21:12, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
- Except the section refers to his property developments and to nothing else. GeorgeLouis (talk) 21:33, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry, meant to say that I would expand it a little as well to include career points. With that many references I can't imagine there isn't more out there. Would that work? Thanks. Rjp422 (talk) 21:43, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
Changes to Caruso Affiliated
Hey all, I bolstered the Caruso Affiliated entry and think you should take a look. I feel some of the Awards here maybe should be on that page and maybe fine tune the Awards on this page for those strictly credited to Rick J. Caruso outside of his business. Let me know your thoughts, I can dig into building those sections out for both pages. --Monstermike99 (talk) 00:53, 17 May 2013 (UTC)
- Makes sense, I think the Awards for Affiliated need to be separated from this entry. I will work on this and add to Affiliated.--Stlamanda (talk) 17:20, 19 May 2013 (UTC)
- Jumping in on this...while researching stuff about Rick Caruso, I found info about Caruso Affiliates' public engagement and will add that to this article.--Vistawhite (talk) 12:45, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
Rename to Rick Caruso
Plain Rick Caruso seems to be the most common way to refer to this guy. Consider the Google results from the Los Angeles Times website: about 10,000 for "Rick Caurso" and about 600 for "Rick J. Caruso". I think this is pretty cut-and-dried, so I'm going to request a non-controversial technical move.—Neil P. Quinn (talk) 20:14, 26 October 2014 (UTC)
