"Challenges" subsection

edit

While I realize that it's never popular to challenge, let alone debunk, such a beautiful, inspiring and moving tale as this, in the interests of NPOV, I feel compelled to include mention of the article challenging the veracity of Kirkland's story. Would that it were not so... Nevertheless, whether Kirkland's tale be true or false, there have certainly been many other Kirklands throughout history who have more than deserved the honor and acclaim given to him. Even if ultimately proven false (and this is by no means certain; the historian who wrote this article has merely poked some justifiable holes in the story, not refuted it altogether), perhaps Kirkland's statue can serve to honor those nameless thousands of others who did just as he did, in all the wars of history. History is just a good story told by the victors. this is one of the innumerable stories that litter our history books of questionable veracity. i implore to you believe it or not as all history MUST be viewed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.211.133.150 (talk) 17:50, 28 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
