[Untitled] edit

In S2E33 they play a game called "All in the Details", which isn't mentioned in the list of games. 101090ABC (talk) 05:13, 9 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Under the 'Contestants' portion of the page, under Series 3, Week 2, it states that a Rose West is due to appear on the program. As of 29/05/19 the Rose West hyperlink links to the serial killer Rosemary West, wife of now-deceased Fred West, also a serial killer and child rapist. I thought she was still in prison, but I guess she's due to appear on House of Games. Odd choice for a contestant, but let's see what she adds to the format, shall we! 60.224.86.178 (talk) 15:24, 28 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Very fishy, given that a) I can't find a source to that effect, and b) none of those names have turned up on my grapevine. I've taken it out.--Launchballer 23:29, 28 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

On January 10, 2020, the Answer Smash game contained a section entitled "Australian Animals." One of the pictures shown was of a Virginia Opossum, not an Australian Possum; its answer incorporated the word "possum." The opossum is a different animal, with a different spelling, from a different continent. Should there be an "errors" section for issues like this? Don't think so, maybe if you can interest the press.--Launchballer 13:17, 11 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

s4w13d5 prizes edit

Were deckchair, sparkling wine, espadrilles, action figure, and 'gentleman's scent'. Won't add this to the article for now as it'd look rather silly by itself. 109.255.211.6 (talk) 11:14, 23 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Could spoilers be made less prominent in the 'Contestants' section? edit

The 'Contestants' section currently contains major spoilers, highlighting all the winners. I'm sure that most readers of the article will not have seen every episode, or (like me) aren't sure if they've seen every episode and want to check. It would be nice for us to be able to glance through the Contestants section without being immediately told who won. If I could, I would change this section to a table format, with a column on the far right containing either the winner's name, or - to avoid repetition and provide more obfuscation - simply the winning seat number. Grand Dizzy (talk) 14:35, 9 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

No. See WP:SPOILER Dronebogus (talk) 16:27, 27 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
The article you linked to merely says that spoilers shouldn't be withheld/removed from articles. It doesn't say there's anything wrong with presenting the information in a way that doesn't force people to read spoilers. Grand Dizzy (talk) 00:24, 25 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
Wikipedia is not censored or modified purely for the benefit of fans. It assumes a general audience that doesn’t particularly care about this sort of thing and just wants important information up front. Dronebogus (talk) 19:38, 11 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Different week numbering to iPlayer edit

The official week numbering on iPlayer doesn't include Champions weeks in the sequence of numbers. Instead, Champions weeks are numbered separately (eg "Champions Week 2" etc.). I think the week numbering in the article should be changed to bring it in line with the official numbering, to avoid confusion? Grand Dizzy (talk) 00:28, 25 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

I have now made this change. I think it makes a lot of sense. Grand Dizzy (talk) 11:26, 25 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

“Random games” edit

This is a bit of an odd section. Some of the games fit in to the “Individual Games” category, I propose re-naming the remainder “Multi-player games” as that sums up the remainder. Joeldelusional (talk) 18:31, 29 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Agree with this. At least it should be "Other games" Bs1jac (talk) 19:12, 23 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Original Research edit

This article has acres of original research that I propose to remove. Starting with the tables of daily prizes, and the long, long paragraphs describing all the games. Escape Orbit (Talk) 17:09, 15 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

The daily prizes aren't original research, surely. They're factual data, with the canonical source being the broadcast itself. Same with the list of winning contestants. The original data is readily available to anyone who watches the show. Wikipedia articles on celebrity game shows generally list the cast (see for example Taskmaster and Have I Got News for You, although in the latter case they're hived off to a separate article). I'm not sure there's any real justification for doing it differently here. MarkSG (talk) 18:32, 15 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
@MarkSG Compiling prizes in this format is original research. How would the reader verify it, without embarking on their own extensive research? I would also argue it's over detailed fancruft trivia. No-one but obessive fans cares, or needs to know, exactly which prizes were available on exactly which show. The guest list is ok. My problem with the games list is its massive, dwarves the rest of the article and is unsourced. Expecting the reader to somehow view all episodes to find out if it's accurate seems unacceptable. Escape Orbit (Talk) 14:28, 16 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Completely agree regarding the prizes. No way of verifying without finding and watching the episode. Also really don't think the table is required at all anyway as it adds nothing to the article. A simple paragraph explaining that a selection of daily prizes are available for the winner to choose from, and a selection of examples to give the reader an idea of the sort of thing. Could expand further to talk about prizes in the early series, and examples of others added later. Maybe mention the most iconic/popular ones, e.g. fondou set, tool box ad wheelie luggage. Deidre O'Kane week of House of Games edit

Deidre O'Kane has already filmed two weeks ago and since they have filmed 4 episodes last week before taping the Redemption special and we figured out 3 of the 4 full weeks, I think it is safe to say she filmed with Iwan Thomas. She has a podcast with Emma Doran and confirmed that she filmed the previous week on her latest podcast. There was an extra podcast about her filming HOG but you have to pay to hear more about. You can check it out if you wish. Presumably she states who she filmed her week with https://headstuffpodcasts.com/show/keep-it-tight/episode/thanks-a-milf-ep2/ 135.0.252.54 (talk) 13:33, 21 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
