Machine edit

"Rice hulling machines" is a specialized product which servers a major part if not all humans on this planet. I think it is worth its own article.

Learning about the way things work is the only way we can get rid of corruption and suppression. I tried to research this subject through Google and I am happy to say it was relatively easy, the method of hulling is very like our old Danish ways of preparing wheat, oat, barley and rye; beating the grains, then lifting them into the air and hoping that a gentle wind takes the husk away. The verb is "tærske" in Danish, also used as synonym for "beating".

I found an 1942 patent on "freepatents.org" http://www.freepatentsonline.com/2282718.pdf and it shows such a machine working.

I think the patent and drawing must be public domain by now, so I will upload a copy.

HullerRice huller — I advocate a move to this new name since the latter is a more accurate and clear description. An alternative is a move to Grain huller, however I'm not sure whether there are other grains that really need a dehusking (most rice btw doesn't neither, aldough it has its merits in some cases). I know that eg some species of corn need a husking process, ...

I agree! I also wondered why I was redirected from "Rice Huller" to "Huller", but I am not a specialist. --d-axel (talk) 23:53, 31 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

A variety of crops need hulling such as coffee, clover and strawberries. We probably need both a general article and specific ones for particular crops such as rice. Warden (talk) 04:12, 30 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
