American English is also a plausible variety to use, as the article relates a partaker in American war and politics. FromAnUnnamedUser(open talk page) 01:09, 21 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
Yes, American English would have been a reasonable choice; but Irish English is also reasonable, and was the original choice. Wikipedia's policy is not to change articles from one variant of English to another (without pressing / specific reason). 90.244.204.38 (talk) 90.244.204.38 (talk) 02:15, 18 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
"height is evident .. well short of six-feet-four" - OR?edit

At present the article's final sentence reads thus:
He has also been described as a "burly six-footer" when his height is evident in a 1906 photograph in which he is well short of six-feet-four Robert R. McCormick.[2][40][41]
Delete? It looks like OR to me; also, probably mistaken(!)
OR: in relation to this point, the references cited are primary sources, not secondary.
Mistaken: the image cited (ref.40, explore.chicagocollections.org), makes comparison with McCormick. In it, McCormick is standing a little further from the camera and so appears slightly higher in the image. (Compare the feet.) I'm no expert at photo-interpretation, but to me the image confirms the description of Burke as "a .. six-footer". (Measurements on a print of the image would probably establish this point; but the real issue is that this is all OR.) 90.244.204.38 (talk) 07:50, 17 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
