Talk:Rhode Island State Police

Unique? edit

One of the ways that the uniform is unique is in the way that the troopers are not issued a traditional badge, such as a local police department, or county sheriff's department, rather, the identification is a set of numbers worn, stamped in brass, placed onto a piece of black fabric, with red piping on the edges, making the identification of the trooper rather unique.

That needs explanation. It might be unique in the USA as all cops carry a "badge" but this is not a unique design per se for other law enforcement units around the world. Other Commonwealth countries like the UK, Australia and New Zealand, and even Canada have use insignia denoted by metal numerals rather than carry a badge.

It seems all rather parochial and small to suggest that the Rhode Island uniform is not without precedent! It would be better to ascribe any views in terms of other American law enforcement agencies to clarify those remarks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.158.254.162 (talk) 08:55, 6 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

mostly Uniforms of the RISP edit

Does anyone else think this article is mostly about the uniforms? That isn't bad, don't go deleting it or anything, but it appears to me to be mostly about uniforms. L3X1 My Complaint Desk 21:31, 15 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
