Talk:Rho(D) immune globulin

Moved from the article

edit

I moved this by User:155.8.89.2 from the article to here:

The following statement needs to be modified:
It is a solution of IgG anti-D (anti-Rh) which bind to the Rh positive red blood cells in the fetus and destroys them.
The above statement should read, "It is a solution of IgG ani-D (anti-Rh) which binds to the Rh positive red blood cells of the fetus, found in maternal circulation, and destroys them."

Suggested change

edit

Shouldn't Rho (R + H + vowel o) really be Rh0 (R + H + zero)?

FYI on dubious edit

edit

User:12.3.33.9, according to WHOIS, is using a CSL Behring server and made some strange remarks regarding RhoGAM (the competing product). I've removed the unverifiable sections of the comment.Somedumbyankee (talk) 23:16, 25 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Worldwide?

edit

"With the widespread use of Rho(D) Immune Globulin, Rh disease of the fetus and newborn has almost disappeared."

Is the condition only found in industrialized countries, or should the above sentence be modified? The disease has most likely not "almost disappeared" everywhere in the world? --Hordaland (talk) 09:59, 26 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Missing Brand Name Section

edit

There are two links in this document to a /Rho(D)_immune_globulin#Brand_names, but this section does not seem to exist. Either this section needs to be created or the links need to be changed. Blue villain (talk) 13:25, 10 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

I believe the following is a partial list of brand names:

In Canada:

  • Winrho SDF

In the US:

Corrected sentence, note sources copying old version

edit

I corrected the grammar and sense of this sentence and i noted that some other sources on the Internet had copied verbatim the odd grammar of the old version, so it would be wise to avoid circular inclusion in the future of such sources. SageRad (talk) 12:12, 8 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

What kind of antibody is it?

edit

Rho(D) immune globulin is an immune globulin, i.g. an antibody. Antibodies can come in different varieties known as isotypes or classes. What class of Rho(D) immune globulin? Is it IgG --Nashev (talk) 11:06, 1 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Inclusion of LGBTQ+ people

edit

"Rho(D) immune globulin (RhIG) is a medication used to prevent RhD isoimmunization in mothers who are RhD negative"

For people whose children can have Erythroblastosis foetalis, the lead sentence mentions only those pregnant people who are cisgender women.
There are also transgender, queer and non-binary people who can give birth (a source and another source).

Therefore, according to neutrality of point of view, I hope that this article, and thousands of other articles, come to genuinely good and healthy terms with LGBTQ+ people. —CrafterNova [ TALK ]  [ CONT ] 19:25, 11 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
