Griffith in Chronicles of Riddick - or, rather, NOT edit

I edited the portion about this film because the original version was bizarrely inaccurate. Griffith did NOT cameo in TCOR. Neither was the character dropped. Kyra WAS Jack, the same Jack as was in Pitch Black - however, in TCOR Jack/Kyra revealed that she voluntarily changed her name as a result of her experiences. So Alexa Davalos was playing the same character (albeit older) as Griffith did in Pitch Black. Both auditioned for the role, however Davalos got the nod. Loccy 10:56, 4 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Loccy, she did indeed make a brief cameo in the film. It's a blink-and-you-miss-it moment, and the studio chose not to credit her for the appearance (which happens, you know), but it is there. In addition, it's since come out in the press that Griffith had actually won the part in auditions, only to be replaced by Davalos by the studio heads as part of the resolution of a dispute between them and Vin Diesel. The information in the film was left somewhat vague, however, in an attempt to leave open the possibility that Kyra might not actually be Jack. (The revelation you talk about is only implied by the film's lines, not explicitly stated, and other interpretations exist.) Information in the novelization, which was completed and turned in prior to the casting debacle, does say they're the same girl; in that, Jack and Kyra had been intended to be the same person, yes. What actually made it to the screen, however, had a more wiggle-room inserted into it for the character to possibly turn out to be a separate individual, and Twohy himself has said in interviews that his ultimate choice, regarding the character, was to have Davalos portray Kyra as if she were a completely different person from Jack. Whether or not they would have turned out to literally be separate people in the sequel is no longer especially relevant, of course, now that Universal has abandoned the franchise. Still, the information about the "only three weeks" of kickboxing training (actually, Kaisen Ryu) as the reason for losing the auditions isn't relevant at all because (a) it's now known that Rhiana won her auditions and (b) Davalos admitted in interviews that she'd actually had even less training prior to auditioning. OK, well when exactly is this "blink and you miss it" moment? Ace-o-aces 16:19, 6 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

In Dire Need of Revision edit

This article is extremely outdated. It still lists a book finished in 2005 as "soon to be released." Bryteline (talk) 06:40, 20 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
