Major expansion

As part of my behavioral ecology class for Project Diptera, I have added the following new sections: History, Description, Distribution and habitat, Life history, Food resources, and Interaction with humans. I have expanded the lead section from its original single sentence. I also added a binomial name authority to the taxobox. I added a picture to the "Distribution and habitat" section of Juglans regia. I have added seven new credible sources and I used in-text citations. My sources are peer-reviewed journal articles. My classmates assisted in proofreading and fact-checking in reference to my sources. I also edited the WikiProject Diptera banner. Listephanie (talk) 06:12, 1 November 2019 (UTC)

Stephanie, I found this page to be really informative and thorough. I was able to find three additional sources that provided more information on different aspects of the fly. All of these related to mating. The first article discusses the courtship and display habits of male flies (vibration, accompanied by a sound). I found a second article that discussed the effect of male density on copulation duration, and finally found a third that classified the fly's mating behaviors as resource-defense based. In addition to these sources, I made some other minor changes. I combined the sub-headings under Description as these were all relatively short, and I believe that Wikipedia guidelines typically ask for sections to be between 200-600 words in length. Finally, there was an error in one of your citations (did not actually lead to the correct page), so I've modified the URL on this first citation to hopefully lead users to the correct location. This is a solid start to an article about Rhagoletis juglandis. I think you covered most if not all the aspects of your fly, from Morphology, to Life History, to Mating. With this in mind, the only suggestion I have would be to continue adding to make these headings more full of knowledge. I was able to add a few pictures to fully bring the article and fly to life. Hi Stephanie. I really enjoyed reading your article. I made some writing edits throughout the article and added internal links where applicable. I also made some changes to the headings. I changed the heading “Description” to “Morphology” because the content is exclusively morphological about the different life stages of the species, and morphology would be a better fit. A section of “Description” requires at least general information about the species in relation to its close relatives, both morphologically and behaviorally. I changed the heading from “History” to “Description,” as it fits the content of the paragraph as well as the article format requirement better, the same logic for the change of the subheading from “Evolution” to “Taxonomy.” I also made a correction on some misleading language (a possible misinterpretation) used in the lead sentence in the second paragraph of the “Description” section, where the relations between different species of Rhagoletis is unclear and the subject was a different species.
