Speedy Deletion edit

I don't see how you can mark an article, tagged as under a major edit, for deletion. I obviously just made the page, give me more than five minutes. Citing a nascent article for being short is one of the most asinine things I have ever heard. Jsb394 (talk) 18:25, 15 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Rey Ramsey in the co-author of managingnonprofits.org, incorrect "bad citation" marker removed, citation corrected. 208.118.160.122 (talk) 19:37, 15 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

The previous citation that I converted to proper format was ASIN: B000VI78H4 which does not list Ramsey as the co-author. Unless you have another source stating that he wrote it, please do not add his name to the book. I'm only using the citation in the article. Toddst1 (talk) 19:42, 15 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, I am User: 208.118.160.122, I didn't realize I was logged out. Jsb394 (talk) 19:48, 15 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Good start edit

It's sounds like he's getting ready to run for office though. Since everything is cited I won't put {{likeresume}} on this but it's awfully close. BTW Jsb394, are you really the copyright holder of this image: http://www.one-economy.com/press/images/rey-ramsey.jpg ? Katr67 (talk) 18:41, 16 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

OK edit

My relation with Mr. Ramsey is neutral. I have endeavored to make the article equivalently neutral by taking out two qualifying sentences, thus leaving only factual statements in the article. It may still look like a resume but doesn't every 'person' page? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jsb394 (talkcontribs) 21:13, January 16, 2008

Taking out those two sentences was perfect. The article no longer sounds like it's trying to promote him. And no, not all biographical articles sound like resumes. See WP:BIO for more info. Katr67 (talk) 21:33, 16 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
If you are neutral, then why are you logging in from a One Economy Corporation's IP address? I think you made a false statement and that you are in no way neutral. Toddst1 (talk) 00:10, 17 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Spam ? edit

See Alec Ross (Social Entrepreneur). It appears that the PR machine at One Economy Corporation is working overtime. Note that both articles are edited by User: 208.118.160.122 (which is registered to One Economy Corporation), also User: Jsb394 identified above that he is the same user that had logged out. Actually, I think this article is fine now, and he seems to be notable, though it could use a little work on the refs and some more sources. I haven't looked at the other one. Katr67 (talk) 00:19, 17 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Do you really think a CEO's bio published on his company's website counts as a reliable third party source? I sure don't. Toddst1 (talk) 00:44, 17 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
I said the article was "fine". Not good or great. I never said I thought the the sources were good. At the point I wrote the above, I felt the article barely squeaked by not reading like a resume and that Ramsey seemed notable, by Wikipedia standards, which is different than the article actually proving that notability using the right kind of sources. See AM's post below. I have tried to make Jsb394 aware of WP:COI and note that though there may be COI involved, if his/her edits are neutral, there's nothing preventing him/her from editing the article, COI or not. Though of course we should keep an eye on any POV creeping in. I should note that there's no shame in having a COI, and if anyone with a COI comes clean, it often makes for better collaboration. Ok, information on board involvement was removed until a better source could be located. New source was found for EF involvement.Jsb394 (talk) 01:24, 17 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
None of these sources really demonstrate notability, yet. The two from his organization are not independent, thus does not count (still can be used to verify info once notability is established). The PR from Habitat for Humanity is a press release, thus for notability it does not work. The Portland Business Journal article is better, but this is not substantial coverage of Ramsey as the article is about the housing with Ramsey as a source, same with the organization profile. The book sale site, not independent and no substantial coverage. The DOL source is again, not substantial coverage of Ramsey. Please note I'm not saying he is not notable, but currently the article does not sufficiently demonstrate it per WP:BIO. Try looking for profiles in newspapers (maybe The Oregonian from the time he was working for the gov, their online archives go back to 1987) or in industry magazines. I have rewritten the article, so I am removing the COI tag. I am still working on it though.Mosquito0016 (talk) 00:09, 19 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

To better establish notability edit

Consider the following, from WP:BIO, in writing the lead paragraph:

  • The person has made a widely recognized contribution that is part of the enduring historical record in his or her specific field.

What is Ramsey's specific field? What has been his contribution? Who has recognized it? If those questions can be addressed and sourced, notability will be established. -Pete (talk) 18:23, 17 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I have worked on the Ross article by jsb. I rewrote to remove COI and, I think, better established notability. I am going to endeavor to do the same for this article because no one seems to be working on it and the connection between this and the Ross seems substantial, so my interest is aroused. Just wanted to explain my connection to this article before I dig in.Mosquito0016 (talk) 21:08, 18 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Notability edit

I have added alot of new sources to the page. How does it look now in terms of notability? Looking for feedback. Mosquito0016 (talk) 01:15, 19 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
