Notability

They are referenced both in the scientific, bioethical, sf literature, and a few games. They are probably the neatest example of a theoretical nanomachine design that can be worked out in high detail and would be useful if it could be built. Anders Sandberg (talk) 17:57, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

Curtailing the spread of misinformation

A popular misunderstanding about lactic acid is repeated in the article. A better explanation of the reason for muscle fatigue can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lactic_acid#Exercise_and_lactate (essentially, it relates not to lactic acid build-up, but to ATP consumption outstripping creation/supply). I don't presently have the gumption to fix it myself, but I'm sure someone else will be eventually see this and feel the urge to do it. ... Ah screw it, I'll do it myself. It's basically amounts to removing the reference to lactic acid build-up.
