Proposed merge

This is part of DNA replication and as such I think it should be merged into that article. - tameeria 19:27, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

I personally agree, since I did find myself somewhat surprised that "Leading Strand" would have its own article. It should be merged into DNA Replication and this page should redirect. Not sure about citing a reference for this, but I could check it against my college biology textbook and cite that -- if that's appropriate for wikipedia. Ceramufary 22:55, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Direction

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the lagging strand synthesized 3' to 5'? Not 5' to 3' as listed on the page.

Kind of both. It's 3' to 5' relative to the template strand, and 5' to 3' relative to the newly synthesized strand. Mikael Häggström (talk) 18:58, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

Unclear subsection

The subsection Replication_fork#Lagging_strand is unclear because of the unexplained technical jargon, or just plain bad English. What is the meaning of "being intrinsic" in this subsection, for example?

Furthermore, this subsection seems to be a mix of the edits of two editors with possibly slightly diverging opinions. However, when that leads to unclear text, these ideas have to either presented separately, or blended into an organic whole. Debresser (talk) 14:25, 4 September 2009 (UTC)

Template???

The replication fork page says that the leading and lagging strands are the templates for reproduction. I have always learned that the strands are the new ones that are produced.
