Problem with the percentages adding up (add up to 107%) please verify this. teh_roflmaoer 14:22, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

Percentages differ wildly from those in the CIA World Factbook: Buddhist 69.1%, Muslim 7.6%, Hindu 7.1%, Christian 6.2%, unspecified 10% (2001 census provisional data) Dsmccoy 06:13, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Lipwe (talk) 16:16, 7 March 2013 (UTC)percentage by religion statistics are wrong. According to latest demographic data from Sri Lanka Census of Population and Housing, 2011 (http://www.statistics.gov.lk/PopHouSat/CPH2011/index.php?fileName=pop43&gp=Activities&tpl=3)these should be change as follows. Buddhist 70.2 % Hindu 12.6% Islam 9.7% Christianity 7.4%

Sort order

Shouldn't Hinuism be listed second, as it is the second largest religion in Sri Lanka? --Emaraite 18:26, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Contradiction

The Christianity section says Christians are concentrated in the southwest of the country, but the map indicates that Christians are concentrated in the northwest. +Angr 16:14, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

That's because the total population in the south west is much higher than the north west. As a result the significant Christian population in the south west is overshadowed by the Buddhist population. There are 1.5 million Christians in Sri Lanka. Of these 750,000 live in the south west (Colombo, Gampaha and Kalutara districts) whilst 350,000 live in the north west (Puttalam, Mannar and Kurunegala districts).--obi2canibetalk contr 15:12, 16 March 2013 (UTC)

Regarding the Section Hinduism

Article states that - Hinduism was the major religion practiced on the island prior to the introduction of Buddhism in the 3rd century BC and the subsequent adoption of the new religion by the Sinhalese population. But there are no Historical evidences to backup this idea rather it is believed that Siw Helas or 4 native tribes practiced Animism prior to the introduction of Buddhism.MediaJet talk 04:45, 29 April 2013 (UTC)
