Danes are called/often described as "four wheel" Christians (usually by the Danes themselves). Because they come to church on four wheels,

• when born they are named in the church/bapitised (they are Christians from birth and can not get out of the church until they are 18),
• they are confirmed when they are 13 years old (they usually do this even if they don't believe, because relatives usually give the equivalent of $2000 as gifts).
• The are married in the church.
• They are burried/furneral service is held in the church.

Days that they do go are Christmas day and Easter. Very few are in the church every sunday (at the smaller churches there might be two or three people).

Well, rather the case is that if your baptism is performed in church (regardless of your faith), you are automatically registered with the Lutheran church, complete with tax and all. I am unsure as to whether one's parents have any say in ending this membership, but you cannot do so by your own will until you are 18. Religion in the Constitution

I tried to clean the section up a bit - it only touched on a few of the relevant paragraphs - and had a bit of a "see, I told you we had to pay" feeling to the way it was written. Lmoelleb 20:08, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

Representative images

I replaced the image of St. Alban's Church with one from the Danish wikipedia. St. Alban's Church in Copenhagen is an Anglican church, and not very representative of religion or church architecture in Denmark. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.184.241.78 (talk) 21:39, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

The Religious Community of Atheists

Atheism is described as "Believes in the Big bang theory and evolution." Thanks for the clarification. Actually, you don't have to be an atheist to "believe" in current scientific models...but it helps! Anyway, I really don't have a dog in this fight, but I still find it amusing how atheism is always hogtied to the Big Bang and biological evolution as if these scientific facts were religious credos of the Church of Atheism. Other religious beliefs atheists hold include the assertions that light travels at 299,792,458 meters a second and many diseases are caused by microorganisms. Expanding Religion section of Immigration to Denmark page

Hi Wikipedians,

I am a student in Rice University's course on Human Development in Global and Local Communities. Last semester I created the Immigration to Denmark page and plan to continue expanding it, specifically the sections on Religion, Population, Economic Effects, and Politics. A more detailed description of my proposed changes and additions to each section can be found on my user page. section titled religiosity in Denmark/sociological study

This section needs to be edited: While a vast majority of Danes are technically agnostic or atheist, few choose to identify as such. It is speculated[by whom?] that this is because religion is such a non-issue that not believing in it does not require a specific label. Phil Zuckerman, an American professor of sociology, after spending 14 months in Sweden and Denmark talking to hundreds of people about religion, reported that they were “often disinclined or hesitant to talk with me about religion, and even once they agreed to do so, they usually had very little to say on the matter.

The sociologist failed to realize that a lot of Scandinavian people and people who are Protestant see their personal religion, faith, spirituality, etc. as something very private and not something that they would tell the public or to a sociologist who is doing a study, and it does not make them technically atheist or agnostic at all.100.34.201.59 (talk) 21:22, 4 October 2015 (UTC)

Delete pie chart?

An accurate pie chart would be an improvement to the article but as it stands the unsourced figures are dubious. It is not credible that "others" totals 0.01%. In other words, the pie chart shows that all religions other than Lutheranism and Islam total 0.01% of the population. This needs to get corrected pretty quickly or I'm deleting it.
