South Kazakhstan is no more

edit

As of June 2018 South Kazakhstan has been renamed Turkistan Region and the Shymkent District has been split off to form a new Shymkent Region. This should be updated!

The table has been updated quite some time ago.--Ymblanter (talk) 20:22, 1 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Cite, cite, cite...

edit

Is there any source for the data? The reason that I don't trust it too much is the data for the following areas:

  1. Pavlodar: 128,000 (km2)
  2. Qaraghandy: 85,000 (km2)

Yet if you look at the map, Qaraghandy looks a lot bigger than Pavlodar.

There should be sources somewhere. --Tphcm 10:13, 19 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

geohive offers different figures. Maybye someone could add these. --Hardscarf 19:17, 19 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Things need to do

edit
  1. Add better population from Geohive
  2. Integrate two cities into the table
  3. Add "1, 2, 3" to match with the map.
  4. Possibly add Kazakh names (Just in Russian is ridiculous)

Clean up the picture.

Difference in maps?

edit

I've noticed that the map on this page is different to the maps on the pages for the single provinces -- in particular the provinces numbered 3, 10, 12 and 13. (For example, click "Akmola" in the list of provinces, and note the different borders.) OMHalck 23:37, 20 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Suggested move

edit

I suggest to move this article to Administrative divisions of Kazakhstan and start expanding it. We have article on administrative divisions on almost all countries, and we need one for Kazakhstan as well. This seems to be a good starting point.--Ymblanter (talk) 12:03, 1 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Provinces of KazakhstanRegions of Kazakhstan – WP:OR, province is a Wikipediism. Look at ISO 3166-2:KZ and at the individual websites of the oblast, e.g. Kostanay Region uses "region". Also http://statoids.com/ukz.html uses "region". Individual pages should be adjusted too. Relisted. Jenks24 (talk) 14:02, 1 July 2014 (UTC) --Relisted. • Relisting comment. Giving this another relist and I'll drop a note at the Central Asia WikiProject because if this article is moved to "Regions" it will mean that dozens of sub-articles and categories will also have to be moved. Jenks24 (talk) 14:02, 1 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
