Does anyone know a source for that quote from D-S? (Neither our word nor our intentions are trusted ....etc.) I could only find it on this website which doesn't give a citation. --HJMG 11:13, 2 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Its from a speech given to the East Indian Association in London in October 1943. 69.198.25.2 (talk) 20:49, 20 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
Another commment. The speech is generally mischaracterized and selectively quoted. The message of his speech was that years of talk about self-government and home rule had bred mistrust in both India and Burma. That when the British returned to both places, they needed to be serious about these matters and immediately show that they were serious to the people in question. The speech was not about explaining why the people of Burma did or did not defend British Rule. 69.198.25.2 (talk) 20:57, 20 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
