I added a general definition here, since so many of the pages linked here do not refer to a specific species, just to Redwood in general, as in "under the redwoods" or "a redwood casket". I left most of the detail to the individual articles; just wanted a basic overview for the casual link-clicker (like me). Catherine

I propose redirecting this title to Sequoioideae, the subfamily of trees which covers the three species that are primarily known as "Redwoods", and moving the information on this page to Redwood (disambiguation).
