We live in Spain, in the Murcia region, and have been fascinated by the re-rumped swallows nesting under the overhand of our terrace during July. Unfortunately we have been unable to find information about their breeding, habits and migration.

What we have observed may be of interest to others. They are very clean birds, and carry any waste from the chicks away from the nest. Consequently, they do not leave the mess below the nest that House Martins do. The most suprising point for us is that when the chicks are ready to fly, they do not abandon the nest, but return every night. At around 9.0pm they start to appear in the sky, and by 9.30pm all, (we have observed up to 7 birds) fly back to the nest, and are settled and quiet for the night.

We should appreciate information on how many broods they have in a season, and when do they leave the nest completely. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.63.198.236 (talk) 10:46, 20 July 2009
