You are absolutely right. There are many mistakes which are frequently found in English texts written by native speakers of German (I am German myself). I guess I could clean it up some, but i feel it is essential that a native speaker of English does that in the interest of overall quality.

I think that this article helps kids know what happened in Germany after World War II. Also I think that this has a big impact on the way kids think about how they have it bad. If they read this they should see how other people have it bad. Plus this helps kids out on their reserch papers.

Ok, sorry that I just play the bad anonymus guy bursting into this, but as I am german myself my first thought when I read this article was that this has to be the work of a bitter german who tries to make germans after WWII look more like victims then they actually deserve. Especially the part with all the germans dying as a direct consequence to war reparations (in capital and industry, not territory). The article claims that $13 billion in 1945 was equivalent to $130 billion in 2006, but then claims $1.45billion in 1949-1952 was equivalent wo $145 in 2006. For this to be true the value of the U.S. dollar would have had to increase tenfold during the time from 1945 to 1949, when in fact the value decreased (mildly) due to inflation. German children or babies who were expelled are victims. The ethnic cleansing of 15 million Germans is violation of human rights and has nothing whatsoever to do with right-wing ideas. Article is biased

Certainly the Germans suffered terribly during and after ww2. That should not be discounted. However, this article seems extremely biased against the Western Allies. For example, the parts about the Western Allies dismantling German industry and using slave labor after war's end did not sound right. Also, I was not aware that East and West Germany needed the Western Allies' permission to re-unite in 1991. Disgraceful

The article as it stands today is disgraceful. In addition to the misleading and biassed statements noted by earlier posters but not corrected or deleted, it is unclear whether it is discussing the Soviet zone, the Western zones or the totality of post-Potsdam Germany. In detailing the devastation and deportations Germany suffered, it fails to note that much of Europe had just undergone similar or worse experiences at German hands. On prisoners of war in Allied hands, it omits to say that many held in the UK with housing, food and work preferred to be there rather than be repatriated to their ruined and starving homeland. The Casualties page says 7.4, not 7.5 . Both references are West-German. The Bundsrepublic didn't have GDR data.Xx236 (talk) 07:33, 31 May 2019 (UTC)

Poor Germans ?

The lead does not explain the reasons of the destruction - Germany started the war and failed to surrender. How many of the victims were killed directly by the German state - handicapped, Jews, anti-Nazi activists, deserters?Xx236 (talk) 07:37, 31 May 2019 (UTC)
