The release date on her Summit Records album was in error. Only the single was released. The album has not yet been released [1]

Bio

edit

About 2/3 of the bio section is copy/pasted from http://www.rebeccaholden.com/bio/ and does read like some fan entry. Who cares about what the "jewelry line" is "packaged with"? 95.90.252.201 (talk) 12:58, 19 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

New movie

edit

“Was Once a Hero” just had a screening in Virginia. She was in it with Darby Hinton who played the little boy in Daniel Boone and Robert Carradine. It’s a new western and family film. 2603:8001:DCF0:91C0:B196:CCDD:3EDC:227B (talk) 15:23, 17 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi IP, I don't have time to look into this today but will take a look in the day or so. In the interim, can you please provide a reliable secondary source that has written about the film and her role? The Stars Foundation is not a reliable source. S0091 (talk) 15:37, 17 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
We can work through the issues but I ask for now you pause editing the article because you are adding unsourced content that contradicts a reliable source and breaking formatting rules. S0091 (talk) 16:15, 17 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Certainly! Here is a YouTube video that shows Behind the Scenes of the movie and interviews the stars and the producer, director, and some of the crew: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aleAo8Til5E&t=304s
Hope you enjoy it! 76.53.158.98 (talk) 17:47, 17 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
YouTube is not a reliable source unless it is published by an otherwise reliable source (like a news organization) on a verified channel. See WP:RSP to get an idea of Wikipedia's evaluation of some common sources, which includes YouTube (list is alphabetical). For music, WP:WikiProject Albums/Sources has a list. For films, some common sources are Variety, Deadline Hollywood, reputable newspapers (ex. LA Times).
At User talk:2603:8001:DCF0:91C0:B196:CCDD:3EDC:227B there's mention she did not graduate from NTSU. That's fine. She attended and we have a reliable source verifying it (first source) so it is still her alma mater (graduation is not required). That is also the source that states she was born in 1953, however since that is disputed best to just leave it out. Personally, I am not a fan of including DOBs in bios of living people unless it is widely published for privacy reasons (id theft, etc.). We cannot use primary sources like birth certificates, driver's license, court documents, etc. and none of the other sources provided for 1958 are reliable. I will look for sources about the film.
Also because you state you know her, you have a conflict of interest| (read that) so should not edit the article directly. For the time being, I am engaged in discussion here and don't mind putting in some leg work to find suitable sources. I have access the Wikipedia Library which has news archives, including Newspapers.com and ProQuest. S0091 (talk) 15:58, 18 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

I certainly understand and want to abide by your rules! (The 1958 is absolutely verified, but I agree with you about just leaving out the DOB, and please if you would, remove from the quick facts page as well. (I think most women would prefer that anyway! lol) The sad thing about only being able to use “news” instead of the official legal documents is that once something is reported inaccurately, it seems to be taken as fact and then repeatedly duplicated. And is there a place that I can communicate with you to add things when I know them? (…only for you to review of course and to only include if it meets all your standards.)I thank you for your time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:4009:4CD0:5D1E:5538:FEF3:DAAF (talk) 16:30, 18 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

First, they are not my rules but policies and guidelines that have been established based on consensus by the Wikipedia community over 21 years Wikipedia has existed. Maybe you meant Wikipedia as a whole but want to make that clear.
I don't know what you mean by the "quick facts" page. There is only one page about Rebecca Holden which is this one. If you mean the Google Knowledge Panel, that's info Google obtains, which may use Wikipedia but may also use other sources. If they are relying on Wikipedia, it may take a few days for it to be updated. If remains over two weeks, there's a "Feedback" button where you can report issues to Google but I don't know how responsive they are.
Totally agree about media picking up things without doing their own independent fact checking but of course that is outside Wikipedia's control and even if untrue, if it is supported by a reliable source that is what Wikipedia must use. I can't remember who, but there's one actress or musician where the article has like three or so different dates of birth because different reputable sources reported different ones and over time the person also stated various dates in reliably published interviews and their autobiography so all Wikipedia can do is document the conflicting DOBs. (I thought it is was Elizabeth Taylor or Tina Turner, but just checked and not them but someone in that vein.)
As far as communicating, here on the talk page is the best place because any interested editor can join in and outside of very rare circumstances everything should be discussed openly on Wikipedia. If you have an account, please use it because it makes communication much easier. If you have a different issue you would like to discuss, please start a new topic. I think we have resolved the movie and the DOB. Please also keep in mind we are all volunteers so responses may not come swiftly. S0091 (talk) 20:11, 18 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thank you so much for explaining all this to me; you are very kind. Especially about the Google panel. Yes, I think we resolved everything, with your help! I see that someone posted a Fox News article that confirms the correct date, so I’m sure that is a reliable and reputable source. (I like your idea of leaving off those personal dates best though! lol. I am amazed that you all do this work as volunteers; you are certainly generous with your time, and I certainly appreciate all your helpfulness. Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.117.20.205 (talk) 00:03, 19 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

If you have future updates, I suggest making a formal edit request which includes adding a template that will it flag it for other editors. There's a handy Edit Request Wizard which will walk you through the process. If you ever have questions or need help, you can ask at the Teahouse. S0091 (talk) 18:00, 19 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
