Yes, we should. David G Brault 19:29, 13 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Reeducation is the term for deprogramming a brainwashed person, it is not a term for brainwashing itself. To teach otherwise is both incorrect and implies one is trying to convince ex-cultists that efforts to help them are the real harm. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.22.241.31 (talk) 05:39, 11 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

– According to the Concise Oxford English Dictionary (2011), it should be spelled "re-education". Both versions are currently used in article titles (such as Re-education through labor). I suggest to make them more consistent. 提尔巴 (talk) 16:54, 3 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Re-education through labor vs Laogai

edit

@My very best wishes: I'm sorry I reverted all the content of your edits yesterday at Re-education camp—I failed to scroll down enough to notice you (properly) removed some See also entries—but the disambiguation page entries for Re-education through labor and Laogai must remain separate. MOS:DAB, summarised at WP:DDD, requires only one blue link per entry. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 07:46, 5 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Well, you now reverted only my second edit [1]. I guess your point is that Re-education in Communist Romania, for example, is not exclusively about the "labor camps" (there was a whole system, prisons, etc.), and it therefore does not belong to the list of meanings for Re-education camp. OK, that is logical. My very best wishes (talk) 17:56, 5 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
On a second thought, I realized that Russian word "перевоспитание" [by labor] is obviously translated as "re-education". That was an official idea behind creating the Soviet labor colonies and Gulag much earlier. The Laogai system was modeled after the Gulag [2]. So, perhaps more "see also" or disamigs would be needed.
