Talk:Ranks in the Boy Scouts of America/Archive 1

Archive 1

Scope (and usefulness) of this article

If we're going to have an article on ranks, we should probably include Cub Scout ranks as well. Otherwise, I don't see any purpose to having this article separate from Boy Scouting (Boy Scouts of America). --Smack (talk) 05:47, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

  • That could be a separate article. --evrik (talk) 14:01, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

Merge proposals

Merge Board of Review (Boy Scouts of America)

Propose merge of Board of Review (Boy Scouts of America) into this article. BoR is part of the rank advancement process and is peculiar to the Boy Scouting program. --Gadget850 ( Ed) 16:21, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

Merge Scoutmaster Conference (Boy Scouts of America)

Recommend merging Scoutmaster Conference (Boy Scouts of America). The conference is part of the rank advancement process and is peculiar to the Boy Scouting program. --Gadget850 ( Ed) 18:09, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

Court of Honor (Scouting)

As the final step of the advancement process, Court of Honor (Scouting) should be included in this article. --— Gadget850 (Ed) talk - 18:47, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

  • Oppose --Jdurbach (talk) 19:28, 6 February 2008 (UTC) Sort of. I agree that the bulk of this article refering to the ceremony "court of honor" should be merged. However, there needs to be an article that covers the BSA National Court of Honor. The National Court of Honor refers to the body that awards the BSA's highest awards, (Lifesaving or Meritorious Action Awards, Distinguished Service Awards (Silver Buffalo, etc.) and Eagle Scout)Notice that the certificates for these awards are signed by the Chairman of the National Court of Honor. Dan Beard was the first chairman of the National Court of Honor.
Court of Honor (Scouting) has one sentence on the National Court of Honor. What sources do we have? Should it be a separate article or included in Boy Scouts of America? --— Gadget850 (Ed) talk - 19:40, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
  • Comment I can't help but think that it can be expanded to encompass all honor ceremonies in the BSA. --evrik (talk) 16:01, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
Would you elaborate on that please? I've been planning to add the National Court of Honor to Boy Scouts of America, but I just cannot find anything on its functions. --— Gadget850 (Ed) talk - 20:22, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
