• The usual form for a settlement in New Zealand would be Rangitata, New Zealand, given that the base name of Rangitata is a disambiguation page. I support that move.-gadfium 23:44, 26 July 2023 (UTC)
• Oppose This is not the primary topic; not by a long shot. When you drive through it and blink, you will have missed the place. There's not even a reduction in the open road speed limit through the place. The river is often referred to as "Rangitata" only, and that might be a contender for the primary topic (i.e. the base name would redirect to Rangitata River. Whether the disambiguator is not chosen well is a different topic altogether. The article in question could be moved to Rangitata, New Zealand, as suggested by Gadfium, or it could become Rangitata (village). Schwede66 06:09, 27 July 2023 (UTC)

• Oppose* - I'd support a move to a better disambiguation for this page, but I don't think this is the primary topic by any stretch. I'm not a fan of Rangitata, New Zealand, as all of the items on the disambiguation page are New Zealand-based so it doesn't really help. I think Rangitata (village) would be fine, per Schwede, or alternatively Rangitata (township). Turnagra (talk) 07:55, 30 July 2023 (UTC)

Oppose* per Turnagra. Current title is not good (in agreement with Gadfium: "Hamlet" in NZ English is not commonly understood to mean a type of place) but the primary topic would be the river, if anything. Suggest this requested move be withdrawn and replaced by a request to move it to Rangitata (village), Rangitata (township) or Rangitata (locality). Daveosaurus (talk) 08:30, 30 July 2023 (UTC)

I don't know if we need to withdraw and replace the move request - these resulting in a move to a different title than what was originally proposed happens all the time. Turnagra (talk) 09:19, 30 July 2023 (UTC)
